AndrewOW
Hyper, the new Turbof... A missed opportunity IMO. Even my local garage takes care of my car when I have to take it there.
Pig
Sorry to read this matt. Sound advise by Rob, get the car to someone that knows what they are doing. I know how you feel having to spend money on a car that you have already paid to have done, its really hard. Stick with it and it will be worth it in the end. SupraStar 3000
I'm gutted for you mate and its because of reading threads like this is the reason why my NA engine is more or less exactly the same as the day I bought it. It frightens me to death the same may happen. Hope its fixed asap with no additional cost. Havard
I'm gutted for you mate and its because of reading threads like this is the reason why my NA engine is more or less exactly the same as the day I bought it. It frightens me to death the same my happen. Hope its fixed asap with no additional cost. This is why I decided not to go TT....... The temptation is always there as I'd love to have more power but it's during threads like this that I realise that you may as well cut out the middle man and flush your money straight down the gurgler...... I'm sorry to hear this Matt but I think getting it down the Michel Lane is the best advice I have seen so far!! Hope you get it sorted. H. AndyT
Only just seen this Matt and no problem for coming to have a look matey although coming straight from work with no tools in the middle of a car park in the pouring rain their wasn't to much i could really sorry Anyway BS and bravado aside I could not believe that any garage would let a car out in that state for example the bonnet being held down with a zip tie as they had not install the bonnet release mech, the resistor pack floating around in the breeze, dials not attached, interior parts missing on not screwed in, exhaust blowing, top missing off the relays, no bonnet stay, speedo not working, emb not held down with loose wiring etc etc etc I did have a quick look at the fluids and there did seem to be oil in both gearbox and engine. Honestly after the money he has paid i would have expected the car to be perfect! After having a proper shake down including putting it back on the dyno to check fueling etc etc I would also have expected the car to be MOT'd. What concerned me the most was the dash boards impersonation of Blackpool illuminations on a simply 30mph test drive the ABS, Airbag, Oil light, Main waring light, TC all came on the car seemed to be running on 5 at best cylinders and certainly would not come on boost. After that I'm afraid i realized their really was nothing i could do to help especially as any of the gauges that would help to diagnose problems such as afr was simply not connected And as i said to Matt (knowing his tech abilities) at the time if it was me I would simply get it Home and trailer it someone trust worthy i.e. Michel Lane(although i know he's really busy at the moment) he is about the only one i would trust to work on my car other than myself. I also would see if someone like Ryan G would have a quick look at the map on the EMB. I would not be taking it back to hyper after what i saw and especially as they seem to be charging him I think Matt could learn but honestly fellas this would be a massive task for a tech newbie Anyway Matt I hope you get it sorted soon and if you want a hand mate you know where i am Good god that's unbelievable. Except for the fact poor Matt has had experienced it first hand. Agree with H and co. here Matt. Take it to a pro. Take pics of all the unfinished, unsafe work and see what can be done through courts to get some recompense. Then post Rob's post on every car tuning forum in the country. Dnk
Really feel for you Matt, been in a similar situation myself but nowhere near the ££'s your talking about, i cant believe any garage yet alone a (specialist) ? would do this. Surely this is commercial suicide as word will get around and no one in there right mind will use them, hopefully.
R Black
Sorry to hear about this Matt, they're plain robbing you, get pictures, details etc, take them to court. Hope you get sorted fella. Really feel for you Matt, been in a similar situation myself but nowhere near the ££'s your talking about, i cant believe any garage yet alone a (specialist) ? would do this. Surely this is commercial suicide as word will get around and no one in there right mind will use them, hopefully. I fear they will keep getting customers, the majority of people will still be unaware. With a car like the Supra picking a garage is really important as in my experience most garages are average to poor for fixing mondeo's & the like, anything rare or specialized is just a total no no, even garages who say "Jap specialists" means nothing without lots of word of worthy mouth say so. Or take the plunge & attempt stuff yourself.

Bonnet stay i didnt have either, top missing off the relays again my fault as i didnt have one. But everything else i wanted the car back to get it to the VIC test on thursday. all that was left to do according to Hyper was: Bonnet catches after i'd supplied them Defi gauges and AFR to get working. Relay top after i'd supplied them ABS problem Apart from that i thought it was going to be spot on

Ian C
Wil do Ian. umm, how do i do it? USB cable to a laptop? do i need a specific soft ware? I'll ring Mr Wild! You need the E-Manage software that matches your firmware. Luckily you can check the firmware with any version of the software. Get it from mohds' site: http://www.mohdparts.com/emanage/ It's an EMU isn't it? That's here: http://www.mohdparts.com/emanage/#E-manage%20Software%20&%20Firmware Start with V2.13 full: http://www.mohdparts.com/emanage/pc/ultimate/2.13_2.13_full.zip And you just need a normal printer-style USB lead. Regarding any ABS issues there is actually a diagnostic available for that: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showpost.php?p=517078&postcount=7 -Ian

Ian C
EMB software is on the same page at the top of that table. Hmm, seems like the full installs have been removed for some reason. Find the full install of v1.25 attached, if your firmware is wildly different to what this can handle you'll only have to download the appropriate update. When it asks for a registration code, type in any old spam. You'll need a pukka EMB cable to talk to it though... That I can't help with, you'll have to borrow one off someone local if you can, and you'll need a serial port on your lappie to plug it in to. -Iane-manage125a.zip
Matt H
List of issues Pretty much the stuff i think needs sorting. Main Issues: - Engine – Car runs, but seems to be miss firing on idle, gets worse under higher revs - Transmission – Revs raise when put into “D”, but doesn’t engage the wheels whatsoever. People are saying Torque Converter but I have no idea Other issues: - ABS light is on – presume not working - Slip control light is flashing – presume not working - Speedo not working (probably not plugged in!) - Heater / Air con doesn’t appear to be working properly temperature wise. Gauges: - Defi Gauges need wiring up – EGT / Boost, should have the bits, exhaust it tapped already for EGT, not sure where the boost goes too - AFR gauge needs wiring up - Boost controller needs wiring up – Think I need a new solenoid Checks etc - Check if restrictor ring is back in the exhaust - E-manage blue is just floating In the ECU compartment, not sure if its in correctly as the “input required” LED is flashing. Needs securing properly - Overall tidy up of engine bay were needed. Replacement relay cover needed. - Overall Check of car New suspension? - Not essential right now but desirable. Need a new coilover kit as the front wheels rubbed on the arches when going over bad bumps in the road. JustGav
Just had a thought, abs issues.. Have you tried turning off the traction control before driving off.. I had an issue similar to this a while back where I didn't hook up the ABS rings. ABS light would be on obviously, but it would get up to about 10mph and then just not accelerate any further. I think i probably covered that scenario driving home. pressed the TC button a number of times but didnt seem to do anything. Just kept flashing. didnt know if the button was working as the light just kept flashing. no indication otherwise
Nic
Other issues: - ABS light is on – presume not working - Slip control light is flashing – presume not working These are probably related, if one of the sensors is not working or there is a problem with the connection both will be disabled.
