Vauxhall Tigra(*ubbared)

The electric fan stopped this morning around 95C, if I had some wire with me I could have just bypassed the stat, but having no tools, only:innocent: having another 15miles to go and as its only the Tigra I thought, so feck it, just keep going - unfortunately so did the engine temperature,

The inevitable happened rose to 130 or thereabouts, went into limp mode and managed to limp off the M74 and at my usual cut-off,

The engine cut out, never to start again, strangely enough I got no smoke, so I'm thinking as the engine isn't starting - or turning over for that matter, I have probably warped the head?

For the fix - do I scrap it and buy another daily runner or get it fixed, I would attempt it myself if pos - but working 50hours a weak at the mo and any spare time away from training is spent on the sup, the engine is not the cleanest to work in either,

How much do you reckon to fix its only a 1.4ecotec, engine transplant, or would I receive anything back at all if scrapped, the body is pretty mint-ish

One question I always wondered was at what mph would it be safe to turn the electric fans off on the sup - it certainly aint sub 100mph anyway!:D

Tomorrow is my last day before I'm off on holiday aswell!Aarrgh!

I was just thinking it couldnt have been the fan, the fan only comes on at idle with the thermostat open, it must have been the fkin thermostat:(

I should have fired on the heater in hindsight, but if it was the thermostat it wouldnt have made a blind bit of difference
