Lost second turbo boost????? HELP!!!!

OK, so put it back together again. Replaced some of the hosing with silicone while I was at it. Took it out, same :( max of 0.3 bar at 5K - 6K. Looking at the pipe that feeds across to the left of the engine bay, across the air box and into the inercooler piping in the wing it is not expanding like it used to under throttle. If anything it looks like it is in vacuum! I have checked the EGCV VSV and it is working, but that what all the literature keeps pointing at. Any help here please???!!!! :taped:

Oh yeah, and after the runs up and down the road, there is always a little bit of blue smoke, but no oil in the intercooler piping or anything like that. I mean a little bit, not a puff.

To make things simplier, i.e no mechanical things

You need to do the foil test which is;

to see if the actuators are moving, Fold up a strip of tinfoil so it's long and thin and wedge one end firmly between the actuator and it's stop. Go for a spirited drive. If the tinfoil has gone when you get back, the actuator opened.

that will let you know at least that bit of it is working, I did this test with mine the foil went and sure enough it turned out to be a blown turbo :(

Check out the vac line diagram mate. Someone here must have it, if not I'll find it. Just to make sure all lines are going to the correct places as mine was all wrong.

It is piped up correctly, it has run in this set-up for 3 years!! How do I check the turbo is working correctly??? Is there a way to test (true TT mode?) or pull the turbos off and look, I guess you upset gaskets etc by doing that?

ie: anything else i should do before pulling the turbo's off?

Thanks for your inputs guys, it has really helped. ;)

If you do what ive suggested above mate, it will prove all vacumm hoses etc... are working correctly and bringing the 2nd turbo online.

Sorry, I was assuming this all passed without trying:rolleyes:. Good point! Genius with the foil, I was thinking of putting something on them that snapped when they moved (couldn't think of anything that would break with little strain).

Plan of action, foil test, then try true TT mode. If that fails I was going to take the turbos off myself, but looking at the thread on how to it looks like an absolute arse :( my problem is space in my garage. It is big enough to do small jobs, but crawling around under the car is a big issue.

If that is the case, where local to me (Devon) is a supra specialist to pull the turbos off? I really struggle to find a garage that I trust.

Ok, so done foil check, passed that ok, tried TTC mod, no turbo boost from no.2 and lots more blue smoke so decided on blown second turbo :(

Can you get re-conditioning kits for these turbos? As i said i work for a company with Garrett connections, and we build tubines etc for aircraft, so could get these done at work for next to nothing.;)

Mine's done exactly that today. Turbo 1 spools up lovely, then at the usual 3800-4000k revs nothing's happening. Turbo 1 boost fades away, and there's nothing there after that.

I have only been pootling around recently to save fuel, so hopefully its only one of these 'simple' checks to do.

Disconcerting though! :(

Well I think I've found the problem on my car. Turns out that one of the vacuum pipes had nearly completely perished, and was hanging off!

Luckily I haven't driven the car much at all over the past week, so hopefully I'll get a new pipe tomorrow, and get it all working again :)
