Lost second turbo boost????? HELP!!!!

Came onto dual carriageway, gave it some and it red lined then that was it, no more second turbo boost. No bang, no smoke, no horrible noises just severe lack of boost. First turbo whistles and is acting normally. It's like the car isn't letting it switch over to the second turbo. When it should normally do that short drop in power before the second turbo kicks in it just doesn't do it at all. And that metallic noise when you let off the power (like a valve or something shutting/moving) isn't happening either.

Checked all piping, can't find anything obvious off. The boost gauge shows negative boost as normal on tick-over, but struggles to go positive.

Has this happened to anyone else? What could it be?:search:

Thanks Guys, good tips all round. Don't feel so gutted now if it is just a stuck valve.

Hmmm, sounds like a PITA to find where the problem valve/actuator is. Is there a tried and tested method of systematically checking bits n peices? Like which valve first? Which is easiest??? Which is the normal one that goes?:search:

Mine's done exactly that today. Turbo 1 spools up lovely, then at the usual 3800-4000k revs nothing's happening. Turbo 1 boost fades away, and there's nothing there after that.

I have only been pootling around recently to save fuel, so hopefully its only one of these 'simple' checks to do.

Disconcerting though! :(

Is weird though, it has been fine for 4 years now, no problems engine wise at all. Then this today, as you say disconcerting :( It always smacks me with ££££££ as soon as I think something is going wrong with these cars.

Lucky I love the damn thing so much or I would have given up chasing these little gremlins it has every now and again (brakes, diff.....it goes on).

Why do they always do it when you have no floating cash as well, mortage goes up this month too.

very weird mate...mine too...had it for 5years with flawless running and only when I changed the HKS bov back to stock and this has happened....annoying thing is, it was fine with the stock recirc for a few weeks and has now gone like this. And to make matters worse a can of WD40 exploded i the boot over the weekend as well and all the bitcumin based bits that support the spare wheel have all rejuvinated so ive got black sticky tar all over the place now.....it never rains eh

 Don't go saying things like that! I'm running things at the hilt already, and if something expensive happens to the car, I'll have to garage it and save up to fix it. Goodness gracious me!

I'm hopefully getting it looked at this week, so will report back. :)

Just took it out again to see if I can work out what the problem is. It now, when giving it some, pours white smoke out. Then (I think) either white, or bluey white on tick-over. First seems ok, and the pressure still struggles to get any more than 0.2 or 0.3 bar. Looking at the link it says it is the exhaust valve (EGCV), but now it is smoking???? Has the turbo given up the ghost????

I would say look near the turbos, left hand side, near the front of the car. Near where the 1st cat/downpipe connects.

Also up the back of the engine area. Left of the middle of the bay.

Sorry, I have no pics. Look about mate and you'll easily find a few actuators etc.

Check your intercooler pipes to make sure one hasnt popped of: (see #6) http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=21186&highlight=white+smoke+intercooler

Check your EGBV pipes at the back of the engine (theyre a bugger to access), I had a split in one of my EGBV pipes and had 2nd turbo problems until I replace them: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=65384&highlight=egbv
