Supradan
Nobody in their right mind would make it ilegal to carry a fire extinguisher;)

Branners
surely if the car is on fire your best bet is to get out and get away from it? Insurance will cover it, but its slightly harder buying new arms and legs when the car explodes and takes you with it. Its only a car, another one will be along shortly. Supradan
Id rather have one and make my mind up in a situation than not have one and need it.
RobSheffield
Most car fire extinguishers would be hard pressed putting out a small camp fire, a REAL car fire with fuel and other combustibles and they stand no chance. Like JB says, get out and get the brigade out.

Wez
we still do not know what happened turned out out 3 other cars mysteriously cought fire that night its horrible watching your motor burn away I am no inspector morse but I dont think it takes much working out, obviously some scumbags thinking they are clever. What did the police have to say?
bigcol
when they opened the doors the dash was almost a poodle on the floor poor doggie mind you it happened to the wifes old car and where we used to have to park it was next to the electricity sub station (that was interesting) but you should have seen the mess, the tarmac was melted about 4 inches deep, it looked more like a bomb crater, nothing but a twisted pile of metal (best thing that ever happened to it:p, lets face it, it was only a fiat c*ntogetinto) and it gave me the excuse to buy an rs2000 (at the time they were good;))

I agree with wez, pretty obvious what happened when you look at the evidence. I have a fire extinguisher in my MR2, just incase. You may have a small electrical fire that you could sort out before it gets worse, but again, if it's a serious fire, then you're best to get out and stay back. But I'm glad I've got one, just for the piece of mind that if I need it - it's there. Plus it looks cool
Benjy
Sorry to hear that mate - I hope they catch the little fcukers that did it. I had my mk2 Escort stolen a couple of years back. When you've spent time, money and a lot of love and care on your pride and joy, it's gut wrenching when somebody else decides they want it, or want to burn it! Theives/arsonists/un-insured drivers should be lined up and shot!

It turned out that it was a faulty batch of the electrical side of the cooling fans which made the engine catch fire! There was a report on it on crimewatch a while back. It was scary though, as my mum had been driving it all day! It could of gone up at any time!
