RedM
I've just had cause to run to the window as I heard something nice and raspy start up outside. It was one of those new Maserati things but it appeared lower and with black wheels. Looked mean as **** and sounded really good as it drove off, rising in pitch as it hit the 'main' road in the village. What with seeing that, the two Ferrari F430s that now live here alongside the Bentleys and Astons and a Carrera GT (well, that actually resides outside the village a little but...) I really miss my Supra. Not that my Supra was as fast as any of these but the look and sound of it would not show it up in such prestigious company. I don't think we'll even own another car like it or any of the others mentioned. The current economic and environmental climate plus our own lack of money. Maybe we should just move away from all the auto-porn around here and head for a council sink-estate packed with sheds and chavmobiles. I are glum! RedM
blimey thats some village you live in!! It's not bad. TBH though if I was looking to spend upwards of 500k for a house a wouldn't buy around here. They seem to be cramming in houses on every spare bit of land. Yes, they are are lovely houses but, jeez, 900k and a bit for a postage stamp sized garden on the main road through the village seems crazy! grahamc
I know the feeling.... I sold mine in Jan this year and have been wanting another decent car ever since. Thanks for reminding me
tbourner
I know the feeling, we don't think we'll ever get another nice car. There's a nice orange Supe driving around here all the time at the moment as well.

RedM
isnt that the norm now tho cramming houses whereever they can such a shame tho Probably. Most of the new builds are situated on the main road. The houses off of the main road are in an all together different league. Huge places with massive amounts of land. They are hardly ever on the market though. Still, I suppose some people are so desperate to be associated with that kind of life that they'll buy an over-priced house on a main road just to get that postcode. Anyways, now I'm even more glum. Back to the cars.
Pete
I don't think we'll even own another car like it or any of the others mentioned. The current economic and environmental climate This has been my line of thinking for a few months now. The sensible thing for me to do would be to sell up....and get what? Something ordinary? Give up on cars entirely and get some old shed? I expect the Supra will be the most powerful oil derived fuelled car I'll ever own, unless I make some seriously large wedge. Even so, it just seems such a waste of money. Even if I could afford a luxury sports car, I'd still balk at the tax and fuel costs. I could sell the Tiger too and then build something unique and fuel efficient - but that takes time. I still believe there's mileage in finding a classic (no tax) with a decent shell and converting it to run on LPG or a modern diesel engine. It's a cheap (comparatively) way to start off and you can build it as your budget is available. Still be unique - and keep the bills down whilst sticking two fingers up at the government. I know that if I was to sell the Supra I'd end up feeling as you are this morning.
Ewen
Are you the only shed driver in the village ?
Scott
Sell up and move to somewhere that only costs 470k. Imagine living in a place like that and having something to moan about lol. I wish i could afford a place like that, a 10k supra would be the least of my worries.
michael
I think the way forward is to look for different ways of extracting the fun, forget big power and look to the mainstream manufacturers that have a habit of building mildly "hot" cars based on their more common models. You get fun from the handling or a buzzy engine (or both) but when something breaks you only need to pay peanuts. You might not get the same "look back at car as you walk away" grin factor but depending on your taste this isn't impossible. Look in the back of EVO and make a list of the affordable 5* cars, keep an open mind, test drive and see what happens from there. Fun can be had with reasonable economy, compared to a Supra anyway. RedM
Are you the only shed driver in the village ? It is highly likely. Even similar types of car are new models or pristine low milers! Sell up and move to somewhere that only costs 470k. Imagine living in a place like that and having something to moan about lol. I wish i could afford a place like that, a 10k supra would be the least of my worries. We rent a one bed flat here mostly for the peace after having troubles with noisy students at our last place. It'll be a sad day when I moan about the noisy birds or the wind rustling the trees.

Ideally that is what I'd do. At the moment though our financial position is such that buying that sort of car is still well beyond our means. SteamAhead
RedM I feel just the same as you when I hear the roar of a sports car go past I so miss my Supra, but due to the running costs etc... I had to sell up and buy a little Audi A2 instead. It's a great little car, but no fun factor at all Really starting to notice on the forum of how many people are having to sell up due to the high petrol cost's etc.. real shame to see this happening If ever the running costs (petrol, tax etc..) start to come down again, then I'm off to find myself a lovely Supra or similar once more (guess that will be many years off though, grrrrr!!!). SILKYSMOOTH
I know how you feel...I am so gutted I sold my Supra - Hindsight is a wonderful thing...but we have to make decisions at the time. I always try to make a considerable effort to have a nice car, and most people in my area know what I am like with cars. Even now people still come past and stop to ask where my Supra is or what car I am driving- it's so upseting. I have decided to start looking for a Black TT Supra and going to see one tomorrow hopefully.

and1c
Totally off topic but related to fuel costs.... It makes you realise how thirsty the world is for fuel oil when the Shell refinery that is currently being picketed apparently normally sends out 1 MILLION LITRES OF PETROL EVERY HOUR on a normal day Wow....I wonder if fuel rationing will be introduced as a more long term measure? They should limit the amount that is supplied to the developing countries so that us thirsty lot can get a better supply To the OP.... It is getting a bit out of hand how much fast cars are costing to run unless youve serious wedge and dont ever check the ££ometer on the fuel pump and just pay whatever it costs without a second thought..
