Thorin
Try reseting the ECU as I'm told this forces it to relearn the idle speed etc. or something. Don't ask me I've no idea. Did it on mine over the weekend and for some reason the car seems to be running better as a result (not that it was running badly before ). Alex
You'll need to remove the undertray.... As you look at the front of the car the drain plug is on the right hand side on the bottom tank facing the engine....its a threaded plug which you un wind to allow the water to flow out the drainage pipe next to it. To do things faster on the left hand side is the lower pipe of the rad unclip this and pull it off if you want to drain the entire system quickly. All this is done with the rad cap removed...whilst the engine is COLD!!!!! If you wish to force the water out quickly (to remove debris/corrosion try putting a hose into the the top of the rad or plumb it into one of the coolant pipes at the back of the engine. Its a 1" dia black hose which runs across the very back of the engine into the bulkhead. Unclip the forward most one on the lefthand side of the engine (drivers side) above the 2nd turbo. As for the idle issue...erm try resetting the ECU or before setting of on a journey always give the engine 15-30secs to settle down. Are you using the same fuel all the time? Different fuel mixes can upset the ECU.
banaman69
thanks for that advice, back the the idle problem i dont use any particular fuel, the engine performs ok when driving, but its after the engine has warmed up its as though the choke is partially on still, and sometimes the idle goes down to about 650 rpm and stays there.its not erratic idling.i have checked the hoses all appear to be ok.i have reset the ecu also.could it be the ISC ? how do i check this?
