mikeyb10supra Posted February 18, 2005 Share Posted February 18, 2005 Ha Ha very wise........running on an empty task can screw things up.....I used to have a 205Gti with Twin 45 Webber Carburettors and let that run on empty all the time and it ended up blocking 2 jets as it was pulling all the S*it from the bottom of the tank through my carbs!! You CAN coast in neutral with the engine running and it shouldn't do any harm. Why you'd want to is beyond me, but that's beside the point. The reason that you shouldn't tow the car is that the lubrication for the gearbox is provided by the gearbox oil pump, driven by the torque converter. No engine running equals no lubrication. Obviously if the engine runs, its unlikely you'll be towing the thing You won't damage the torque converter by towing, but you will damage the gearbox. You can't bump or tow start auto Supras because there's no rear pump on the gearbox. So you won't be putting any load on the TC. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
