Turbo Oil Feed Leak?

Typical! just finished my single install, run the engine up to temp a couple of times to check everything, all OK, so took it out today and it seems OK around town so out into the country for a check on what the waste-gate spring is set to etc, and on my way out of town i start to notice a little smoke and the slight smell of burnt oil, so i;m now starting to panic that it wasn't just my twins the last time it smoked:( pull over and open the bonnet, to find that there is a leak form the turbo oil feed:( can't tell where exactly its coming from, but it was dripping down onto the manifold!!

Now luckily i had some rag with me, so i fabricated a sort of make shift nappy for it and limped home, as i didn't want to use up my recovery, I'm still waiting for it to cool down so i can investigate,

what i want to know is has anyone else suffered this and how did they fix it?

It was all assembled carefully using PTFE, and the only two things i can think of is that the gasket material i used is not up to the job (unlikely but possible) oh and i did check the adaptor plate for trueness, and the face of the turbo mating surface look OK, the elbow look fine too, my only other concern was the oil pipe, as i bought this kit SH and it looked to me like it had had a leak before by the look of the manifold directly underneath, so i was a little suspect of the oil feed pipe, but i have checked this and it appears to be not leaking.

Which if its not one of the causes already mentioned, then the other possibility is that the turbo casing is somehow cracked:(

(long shot) but if it is then i will have to talk to the original suppler, (doesn't ring a bell to anyone does it?)

Any input gratefully received:)

I think it's pretty normal to have a leak after the first run it. Most people I've spoken to with new installs have just had to tighten them up a little after a few hot/cold cycles.

I was also told not to use ptfe, but I can't see it making much difference (good or bad)

Thanks for the replies, i have now been through it all again, and checked it and there appears to be no immediately apparent reason for the leak:( so i have rechecked the flanges for true and bolted everything back up using locktite instead of PTFE, i have run the engine up to operating temp again and can't see any leak, but then it was that way the first time, will give it another run tomorrow with fingers crossed.

Kev, thanks mate, i may well take you up on that:) as my pipe although AFAIKS is not leaking, i am a bit suspect of the crimp fitting to the union, can't actually see if it leaks due to the way it sits,

drop me a PM what you want for it:)
