Chris Wilson
Just sent someone a link on Google Earth to show some land for sale near us. The problem is all the maps round here are YEARS out of date, at least 12 years to my knowledge. Will they ever get updated, or is there a way to access newer images? Thanks
SteveR
These are sometimes a little more up to date Chris, worth a shot: http://maps.live.com
Chris Wilson
Thanks Steve, same image exactly, unfortunately, the joys of living in the sticks I suppose, appreciate the the link though
Swampy442
Suppose Google earth is just a reference tool as opposed an up to date map resource. Tried Ordenance Survey?
jamesmark
After 5 mins of Google earth it loses its attraction. Chris it is not because you stay in the sticks mate, I stay in a semi in the sticks area and google earth is at least 6 years out of date here as the next door neighbour still has the garage he demolished 5 years ago to make way for his Pigeon avery. Back home in Scotland (Edinburgh) it is about 4 years out of date.
Homer
On google maps mine was updated only 2 years ago (last shot of the supra before it was sold!). The ones from my parents place out in the sticks is at least 8 years old. Multimap is even worse, they show my house years before I bought it! Chris Wilson
We had some friends take a balloon flight last week, the wind took them right over our place, before we were up, so am expecting some nice current aerial shots, and even a video, for free Pity Google Earth isn't right up to date, it would make a very useful resource for those looking for new properties. Thanks for the help.
keancy
http://maps.live.com Yeah about 6-7 years out of Date for my Area too. Google maps are a bit more up-to-date.
AndrewOW
Have you tried Flash Earth? http://www.flashearth.com That was last updated in my area within the past 2 years, as it shows my car in the driveway outside my flat
probrox
I live out in the sticks and the maps were about 8 yrs old for me. I was looking at a few houses to buy on Saturday though and realised they had eventually been updated.... only 2 yrs old now.

That's because it's just an interface for the usual map sources. You really need to be looking for commercial services who should have more accurate data.
