JamieP
Dont think they are easy to tune, its a very rev happy engine as it is, i cut the center box out of mine so it sounded like a V8 should. Video of mine for you. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/M5-exhaust-vid_134672.htm

JamieP
ooooooo that sounds very nice, any advice on them buddy? Mine was fine, i did a good few miles across france in it and it was faultless, no problems i could find in the service history and i sold it to my mate justin about a year ago with 90 odd thousand on it and its still going strong now with just over 100,000 miles. He picked me up in it saturday night and it felt like a flying machine i had a few beers in me mind you;)
edge
my brother has not long brought a 2001 model. Like jamie said it will give a bpu supra a good run but mine always had a good few car lengths over it and made quite a distance from 90leptons plus. But a fully loaded one with all the toys and seper comfort and great sound. Make sure you get one with the later engine fitted as the earlier ones suffered from vanos/oil problems resulting in new engines having to be fitted. JamieP
Nah, silent and i could find nothing in SH about it either, my mechanic is a bmw nut (has a e34 and e39 M5) and he said you only get problems with them when people use the wrong oil, he said only use oil from BMW. ADD
great stuff cheers buddy, i'll have to have a look at service costs etc i think!
Seb
Might I suggest you get one with an extended warranty - my boss ran one as a company car for the past year or so and warranty claims have added up to about £6k. Expensive to renew but even at £1800 a year for the top level of cover, you're sorted for all possible problems and it's cheaper than not getting one. Very thristy too, over 20mpg is a rare sight. I raced one in my BPU Supra from 50 to 120 and while it was very close, I pulled about a car length on him in that time. Awesome cars though and one of my all-time favourite BMWs. The Restorer
I had always wanted an M5 but when I finally decided to get one, the VANOS stories put me off and I ended up with the M3 instead. Jamies experience says different though so I wish you the best of luck. A warranty with BMW and a warranty from someone else are 2 different things though.
