you may want to sit down for this mate :)

you may as well change the arms. the supra has two arms on each corner. if you pm nic (import pimp) he can send you a list of parts and pricing. be warned though - a full kit comes in at around £1300 delivered as a guideline :)

You really need to get the car on a ramp and get all the suspension components checked out for wear. Also get all the bolts torqued up as it could just be a loose subframe bolt causing the noise.

Drop me a pm if you do need any new parts.

For another car I have just ordered a set of polyeurothane bushes from Superflex.co.uk.

It looks like there are some for JZA Supras there. The catch is you have to press them in yourself or get someone else to do it.

With that work it may be worth buying the complete assy from NIC.

I have heard that polyeurothanes need oiling or greasing to stop them creaking after a few years but I have no evidence to support this.

As soon as I realised my shite handling was caused by worn bushes, I replaced every one of them. I figured that if some are worn, all of them will be, so why go through the pain of tracing which ones are problematic? I just refreshed the lot instead.

Blummin expensive. But my god the car is good to drive again. I've got very stiff suspension so they wore out at about 65000 miles.

:yeahthat:

The labour to remove old bushes and press in new ones will prpobably equal the cost of getting the arms and other parts anyway !

Guest supersu

hi all,

I'm a new member to this forum. Actually from the US, owner of 1993.5 Toyota Supra NA. Like many of you I've experiences creaking and soft ride on my Supra and decided that the bushings are the problems.

This is especially a question for Ian C and/or miko_supra. what is your experience in changing the bushes? I've purchased the PowerFlex polys, and plan to add the rear upper control arm bushing kit from either SuperPro or Nolathane from Australia.

1. I heard poly bushings can creak after a while. Is that true?

2. After you remove the old bushes from the control arm, where exactly are you supposed to place the lube? My PowerFlex bush each comes with two poly pieces and a metallic inner tube. when you put them into the control arm, do you lube the outer circumference of the bush in contact with the control arm? And do you lube the inner circumference of the bush that's in contact with the metallic inner tube that came with it? Do you do both or just one of the surfaces.

3. I've heard improper lubing of surfaces can cause squeaking. Does anyone know anything about that? I'm planning to pay a mechanic to do this bushing replacement but he said that he previously had experience with poly bushes becoming noisy after 6 months. My original reason for replacing the bushes was first and foremost because of the noise. If it comes back after the bush replacement I'll go crazy!!!

Please help. Thanks

Andy
