Supradaz
Hi there.. I have a Jap spec non turbo 5-speed manual with an open diff (soon to be NA-T..thanks to Knightrider) I have bought a UK diff with UK drive shafts and oil cooler. My non turbo propshaft isn't the right size so can I get away with buying antoher Jap turbo (torsion diff) propshaft or do I need a UK propshaft as that may be a bit difficult to source. Also has anybody got a diagram showing how and where to install the oil cooler. I know it goes at the rear wheel arch but diagram would be great. Any help would be greatfull as I'm thinking of getting my propshaft fabriacated to make it fit. I'm in N.Ireland so by the time I pay for new propshaft and postage fabriction of my propshaft might be a cheaper option. Unless someone can do me a good deal on the propshaft I need including postage to N.Ireland thanks Darren Liggett
Chris Wilson
I wouldn't bother with the cooler, unless you intend to do lots of track days on tight circuits with a tightly set LSD you won't need it. You can get away with the rear half of the correct propshaft, mated to your existing front section. If you go with a cooler you need all sorts of mounting plates for inside the arch, metal and rubber pipework, their brackets and covers, and the pump itself, which is EXPENSIVE. It'd be cheaper to fabricate the lot from race stuff, unless you buy used UK parts, which will probably be near knackered.
Supradaz
thanks for your reply Chris. You don't happen to know what the correct half of prop shaft I can mate to mine. Will a TT prop shaft do my job or do I need a UK prop shaft.. are they different anyway? Anybody

Basically, I'm installing a 6 speed diff in my conversion and want to know if its just a straight forward swapping of parts. Thanks.
Guest dangerousandy
I have a diff oil cooler pump spare (untested) as I replaced the diff in my UK spec and the 'new' diff came complete with a pump, but the pipes and loom have been cut. If you go ahead with the conversion and need a pump let me know.
Krister
If you are running a W58 tranny and a TT diff, you need W58 drive shaft with a TT drive shafts end flange cut to lengt to the W58 drive shaft. I just did a setup like this. You can get a correct drive shaft from Toyota from an UAE export model, but they are discontinued and cost £700. A TT prop shaft end wont connect to the W58 drive shaft, they center bearing setup is different. Here's a thread I made about this on SF.com http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=522552 Edited February 19, 2009 by Krister (see edit history)
