Stock exhausts

Wez

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

Was looking at the following US page and noticed that the stock TT exhaust doesnt have center boxes only the NA, is this the same for jspec TT imports?

http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/exhaust/stock_exhaust/index.html

this is the exhaust i just replaced my standard one for , it a blitz tt-r, and is exactly the same as stock with only bigger pipework so this is the number of boxes in a jdm TT exhaust, apart from the cats of course.

Interesting, need to look into that one, how quiet is it.

Wez, that exhaust I gave you had all three boxes, it was from a UK car. The Jap ones I've seen are the same.

Thats what I thought, the one you gave me is on my NA, lovely and quiet, stops the neighbours complaining.

very quiet, as quiet as stock, you can only hear it when you really floor it, ive got auto so when i put the peddle to the floor and the TT comes in its sounds really nice, a head turner but not from the usual loud drone of other cars its more like f##k whats that and everyone looks, very hard to explain, sounds like a quiet rocket, lol. definalty recommend to anyone who wants standard look exhaust and quiet. best of both worlds noise wise.

I'd like something along those lines too ... I'm having a hard time locating a decent, quiet exhaust over here...

well honestly youl love this exhaust, it exactly what i was looking for and i found it by accident, took a risk in buying it and can confirm its perfect for the supra because youve still got the lovely sound of the inline-six and a very classy noise when you floor it. that guy on here who says BEWARE THE QUIET SUPRA, well thats me with this exhaust now ,lol

Where did you find it matey?

It was on ebay, a seller on there that imports quality used parts from japan, it was listed as a blitz tt-r exhaust and it says blitz stamped into the steel on tailpipe so assume its a blitz, and ive looked into the tt and tt-r range and it seems to check out. the tt was stainless back box and mild steel version, and the tt-r was a full stainless version, thats what i have, maybe its a discontinued line that blitz did a few years ago maybe, envy sell the blitz tt but its not down for the supTT.

i suppose it is possible its a fake, but i doubt it, it very nice quality steel, my mate who fitted did say that he had to fiddle with it alittle when fitting it, think the driver side pipe ran a little close to the diff or something around there, but i took car for MOT the other week so i could have a look and its looks great.

this the listing

I've seen one of these for sale on EBAY before, it was the exact same image as SupraGZaero posted. And as for the standard exhaust i just replaced mine yesterday & it & the other tt one in the garage both looked like the N/A zorsts in the 1st post, 3 silencers.

Wouldnt it be a lot cheaper to have one fad'd up?

Quiet exhaust means loss of power, theres no way around it, why dont ya just put a high flow cat in a system designed around the stock system

or muffler after muffler after muffler:D

That stock looking system looks the biz, but it will strangle power, weld a V-band clamp on the section between the dp and split and just use a stock exhaust daily driving, and a 3inch straight through for track

15mins to change with a spanner and a jack;)

hi mate, i didnt buy the car to track it, and simply want a nice stainless exhaust as the standard one is 14years old, im going to be keeping the car standard, as power levels go again it certainly does not strangle the power in standard form, goes like stink[COOL][/COOL], my nissan s14a i had, it had a full fujitsubo from turbo straight out just one box and that was the back one, and that made a hell of a difference to performance but also would wake up the dead on idle, just had enough of loud exhausts, and from what i hear with new law coming in you anit doing yourself any favours by getting a mega loud exhausts

I have never seen an N/A exhaust with no middle boxes Wes. I have a couple here, and plenty of TT ones. The Blitz one in the photos looks a good system, if you CAN find one it should do the job. Borla in the US make some good none restrictive boxes in various styles, for a one off. I used to use Cadillac Fleetwood back boxes to make things very quiet, they were for a 7 litre engine and are fairly free flowing, with excellent noise absorption. Walkers listed them, but i am going back 10 years or so. Car was circa 1975 model year.

Yeah totally agree, if its just a daily and the power is enough then go for it,

The 'track' was more in reference to Wez who has a single turbo

Personally I dont like noise, exhausts or big loud i.c.e systems, but if its between noise and power plus lowering my egt's then its gonna be noisy time all the way

I like the idea of using different exhausts, because I wouldnt like to use one of them stock ones while on track - my WG exit has bigger piping!;)

yeah its my daily ride, at the moment im completey happy with it standard and to even own a TT to be honest, plus its a GZaero, its been my dream car for years, 27 now so these things become easier to get a hold of and run, i spent around £9000ish on my nissan with buying it total £12000+, 300bhp+ but safe power dont believe in just slamming the boost up and hope for the best, never run my s14a over 1bar. so what im getting at is i dont want to be catching the tuning bug again even tho its hard not to, but yeah happy with stock power levels, nice grin:eyebrows: factor from the TT
