Bubbly Bozo
Hello & a warm welcome! How much did you pay for this honey?
blert596
Paid £7k for it. Dont know if its good value or not yet really. Looked nice, drove well as far as my somewhat limited knowledge could tell. So whopped over 7k. Now, even if its a bad deal, please nobody come on and tell me Im an idiot. I do compulsive...not considered!!
Homer
Looks very nice mate The only advice I would give is to spend a few hundred now to save you a potential fortune in the future: - Get a good service done and all fluids replaced (Engine, gearbox, diff oil. Brake & clutch fluid. Air filter and fuel filter) - Get a full laser wheel alignment done, especially as you have aftermarket wheels Getting these things done when you first own the car could save you many times the initial cost in the long run. blert596
Thanks for that Homer. I have heard that Envy, based just outside Newcastle, are quite good at this sort of stuff. As you said I'd rather have a complete check over now and deal with any problems, than ignore and find later that I could have prevented anything becoming major. Can anyone recommend any places in Scotland to get a decent checkover done. Any personal experience, as I obviously dont want to take it to some cowboy outfit. Am also looking at personalising my own little cockpit area so am looking for ideas along those lines Cheers
The Hornet
Hi & welcome, nice Soop you have there. I use Envy quite alot, had no problems with all the mod's they have done on mine, great customer support too.
blert596
Just found these in the Tech Section... Are these for real??? Bloody hell if they are. Gearbox:- 2JZ-GTE AUTO 4-spd Tyre:- Michelin all patterns 235/45 x 17 Top Gear gives 27.497 MPH/1000 RPM and a top speed of 192.478 MPH at 7000 RPM Engine speeds in top gear:- 30 MPH = 1091 RPM 40 MPH = 1455 RPM 50 MPH = 1818 RPM 60 MPH = 2182 RPM 70 MPH = 2546 RPM 80 MPH = 2909 RPM 90 MPH = 3273 RPM 100 MPH = 3637 RPM Top Speed in 1 gear = 48.394 MPH And changes into 2 gear at 3822 RPM dropping 3178 RPM Top Speed in 2 gear = 88.633 MPH And changes into 3 gear at 4572 RPM dropping 2428 RPM Top Speed in 3 gear = 135.697 MPH And changes into 4 gear at 4935 RPM dropping 2065 RPM Top Speed in 4 gear = 192.478 MPH
Homer
Being from the Thames valley I can't personally recommend anyone in your neck of the woods. However Envy are very highly respected on this forum so it's worth giving them a call for advice, I'm sure they can recommend someone. Don't be afraid to travel some distance to find a true specialist (from what I know it is well worth it), quite a number of people from London drive up to Chris Wilson’s just for services, let alone custom setups. blert596
Thanks again Homer. As Ive no idea about what I should be using in my car is there anywhere on the site that gives recommendations of what oils etc to be using, even if I should be using Super unleaded or normal. What differences would it make? As I said before not very car wise but dont want to be messing this up before Ive even got started. Will be giving Envy a ring tomorrow to see if I can get it booked in for a thorough lookover (I know its after the horse has bolted). But even things like servicing schedules etc I have no idea over. Things on my immediate list to do are: 1. Get a checkover and any suggested work done. 2. Get a new MP3 capable CD system. I have a double sized Kenwood CD/MD/Jap radio fitted but would prefer a single. Are blanking plates or pref a "receptacle" like item available to put in the hole? 3. Have a bit of wear to the leather on the shifter and the handbrake so looking to sort that out. 4. Cleaning: Recommendations inside and out. Dash cleaner to give a nice glossy type of shine. And I know this will sound stupid but Ive always done car washes, so recommendations on how to get a good clean and shiny outside look. And best cloths/soaps/shampoos etc. 5. And gonna look at changing the dash look, and deffo the steering wheel. Then again if I do that I'd like to change the shifter and gearstick to match. I presume if I pop to Envy they could help with all this though.
Homer
No worries mate Rather than answer each of your questions individually, you'd be best of asking all of those Gav or Kev at Envy - they'll give you the same advice you'd get on here. If you want to back up that advice (particularly on the suspension setup - which should be one of the 1st things you get done) call Chris Wilson, he's a very nice chap and will give you a completely unbiased advice on how to set up your car. Any questions about ICE should be directed to Matt Harwood!
blert596
Ok, last problem thats worrying me now is...Im off to Cardiff this weekend am a little worried about getting a puncture. Apparently, I have AVS Alloys 18" and am just wondering would I be able to slip on the stock spare wheel if I need to? Even if its just to get me off the road a couple of miles. Aerotop Dave
Yes, the spacesaver will get you there, but only at 50mph. Obviously the size mismatch is something to keep in mind, so regard it as very much a 'get you home' spare and just trundle.

Have you got stock brakes? coz if they been upgraded to a larger disc / calipers, you're space saver may not fit over them
