If they are selfish enough to be standing there in the first place then why should the driver give two shits if he mows them down? They could have kept their distance but by putting themselves in that situation they've taken their lives in their own hands. I think it's pretty obvious what the risks are when watching this kind of sport and so if people get in the way more fool them. I've spoken to a few rally drivers about this and am having dinner with one on Saturday so I'll ask his opinion on it but I'm 99% sure he'll say what I've said above. Exactly, looks like he almost ran over those he knocked down to make his escape! lol... the lack of any care for those hit is shocking. It says to me that the planners don't want to spend the money on a few bits of red tape and instead just attempt to indemnify themselves with ticket disclaimers. They shouldn't have been there if they didn't know the risks. If it said it on the ticket (it does for UK events too) then I don't get what the issue is TBH. Fair enough he might have injured someone but he isn't obliged to know first aid. Everyone has their own jobs to do and his is to drive. But, its not like the driver clipped someones arm, smashed someones camera or flicked a large stone up into someones balls. Like the reason he came off the course was due to alcohol! lol, hes driving in a rally at the limits of a cars potential? surely that might have have had an inkling to do with it! I think you underestimate the concentration involved in rally driving. The driver likely didn't have any idea what kind of damage he caused because he was so focussed on finishing and listening to his co-driver. Couple this with the fact that he's trying to avoid crashing and dealing with an un-expected situation and there isn't much time to think about the welfare of people standing on or near the track. It's a sad world we are creating for ourselves. hmmm....if i remember correctly, they were speeding on a public motorway on cars i believe were not suitable for public roads. Nope, that was the fault of the teams, organisers and local council combined IMO. I remember travelling down the M4 in Wales and the idiots were flying up the hard shoulder undertaking loads of heavy traffic. Its a sport and they were risking lives, crazy. Difficult one this, I can see the spectators were idiots but I think its wrong he drove off not knowing if he had killed anyone. Surely winning a rally pales into insignificance with taking a life?
