RobAndrews
Hi all, Wondering if anyone could recommend a place nearish Bristol that could look at my Sup ? About 6 weeks ago I got new rear tyres, new stereo fitted and oil, plugs and bulbs done. Since about that time I get a whirring noise (like blowing across the top of a bottle) at about 27 mph and only that speed, any quicker or slower and it isn't there. Had the tyres checked and apparantly there isn't any play in them. I've also got a tapping noise coming from the engine bay which I know needs looking at. Any ideas would be gratefully received

RobAndrews
nope, as far as I know it's totally standard and I'm coming up to 100k miles. hence why I'm a bit concerned, i don't think even the cambelt has been changed !!
RobAndrews
although I have to add I've had it on the rolling road and it's got 318bhp so atleast i know it's pulling ok
jaymdee
Hi all, Wondering if anyone could recommend a place nearish Bristol that could look at my Sup ? Hi mate. When I asked this (I'm in Bath) I was pointed to the people that Bristol Import Centre use to set all their cars up/SVA/service etc. Not sure who it is myself, but I'm sure you could ask them for a number. I spoke to the guy there who said that Toyota in Bath were pretty good. I've used them and they seemed OK. I've also used Bath Performance Centre, who don't see any other Supes, but seem to know about perforrmance cars (seen M3s, porsches, 200SXs there) Hope some of this may help J
hadyn
tapping noise could just be the injectors pulsing which is normal, the whirring noise could be the fuel pump or just induction resonance that you sometimes get.... mine used to make a milk bottle blowing noise at about 30mph but that noise has disappeared since i fitted a hks bov, suggesting that the stock bov was probably leaking or shafted
RobAndrews
thanks for the replies people. Where are Bath Performance ? I work in Bath so I'll be able to pop in there sometime soon. Glad you mentioned the BOV, gives me an excuse to spend on getting an after market one. I also reckon I've got a slight blowing in the exhaust which means I should get an aftermarket exhaust too, but maybe I'm just wanting to hear a problem ! jaymdee
Near to Sainsbury's. If you go out through the Green Park entrance by the Green Park Brasserie and turn left, they're on that road. I think it's James St West. 50 yards down on the right. (tried to insert a map, but not sure if it's worked?) J
Scooter
I also reckon I've got a slight blowing in the exhaust which means I should get an aftermarket exhaust too, but maybe I'm just wanting to hear a problem ! quite possibly! I agree re the injector 'ticking' the noise you hear may also be related to the new rear tyres. Some makes transmit alot of road noise through the rear than others. Ian C
A noise at a specific speed is usually a harmonic somewhere. You'll get these crop up when you start modifying as all harmonics are tuned out with stock parts. Pod air filters will do it, exhausts will, maybe even tyre makes. It *could* be a wheel bearing starting to go, but that's real worst-case-scenario. The ticking noise isn't a stone in a tyre is it? -Ian
