You don't buy the 'plate' just the right to use it. A nice little money earner for the DVLA from people with more money than sense. For Fifty quid you can change your name by deed poll to for example: N217 VJC or whatever matches your current plate.

If you won the lottery and had shed loads of cash in fact so much that you burned wads of fifty pounds notes on the fire to keep warm in winter like the Bumpkin Billionaires(anyone else remember them?) would you buy one or not?

Yup, but the DVLA probably wouldn't issue it :D

I would probably draw the line at £500 for a plate. I mean, it's nice to have but who really gives a sh!t.....;) There is also nothing worse than people putting screw heads in silly places in order to spell the word they want. If the plate doesn't say it without doctoring then it ain't worth the money!!

Id like a private plate :( i saw a H1 SL8G or something like that awhile ago on a supra, i want that plate! lol

:eyebrows:

Hide's the age though ;)

Why would you want to do that? I personally delight in wiping the grin off of peoples faces in their They especially hate it if their other half is in the passenger seat.

On topic, if I had all the money in the world, I might consider a private plate, but I have no idea what I'd get.

I had a private plate, but it's not just the rights to the plate you need to buy! You have to pay around £80 ontop to transfer it to your car! Then if you change your car, it's £110 to retain the plate off the car so the DVLA doesn't get it back for free (they won't buy it back off you!! If you take the plate off a car, they get it back after a year unless you pay extra to retain it, a yearly fee!) I got bored of mine, and I think the standard reg plate is cheaper, easier and just as good! It's just a reg plate after all, people will be looking at your car, not your reg! It's a nice novelty, but novelties wear off.
