Clear Lenses - fitting - PICS

Today i started to fit the lenses from Supragaztt's GB....

...only managed to fit one lense, which took about 4.5 hours fron start to finish. I had a few problems along the way, namely the Dremel bits which kept overheating and breaking so had to continuely cool them while cutting in water.

the other thing which i did different was NOT to remove the old lense from the body in the oven, i thought it was better not to and i think it didnt come out too bad, the reason was because i didnt want to make a mess of having to seal both the old lense ring to the light body and then the new lense to the old.

The only thing i made a c*ck up of was filling the gap between the lenses as i found filler doesnt adhere too well to bostick adhesive  something which i may need to redo and do properly on the other side. Anyway heres the before and after pics:

My god the clear lens looks good, How much were they?

To be honest i had missed the group buy but supragaztt had a defective set lying around which had moulding marks so had to polish them out, i paid £55 for them

looks like you got a good finish on them, best ive seen yet, normally silicon all over the place, hope they stay water tight.:)

Thanks Jamie, they look good from anything over a metre away, as you can see gaps in the filler but something obviously that needs to be redone but i think came out well for a first attempt.

It just looks quite complicated to do! :D

I always think of the lights as eyes.

Clear lights, healthy car

Very true, thats why i went for a facelift Supra, as i love the new style headlights...;) :D

Headlights are one of the first things I notice. That looks great.

Edit: I made a mistake on this post so ignore this one lol!

Very true! That's one of the reasons that i bought a facelift Supra because of the design of the new style headlights! :D

it isnt really, just makes a bloody mess cutting the acrylic and the old lenses...steady hand, patience and eye protection!! ;)

Without sounding like a complete idiot, how do you actually do it then?? :)

Because, tbh, i wouldnt mind doing this in the future as i have noticed that my passenger side headlight is going slightly yellow-ish...:(
