Yes that is a bit warm mate should be between 80 to 90 deg's at that speed , Where is the temp sensor located? Also them temps are with the standard cooler so yours should be about 70 to 80 max Edited May 31, 2008 by supra matt (see edit history)
csa
thought so. could it be the thermostat in the sandwichplate thats not opening for the cooling unit?
supra matt
Might be but if it still has the standard cooler on it ? then this should keep the temps under control .

SUPRASUZUKI
This might make you feel a bit better. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=91460&highlight=total I see just under 120C on a track day. That's with the standard cooling oil set-up.
Pig
my rs4 stays at about 100 and thats a new car. The supra is the same but peaked 137 at marhan
johnd-mkiv
do you have a water guage? this will give you a rough idea if the oil temp guage is running out?
Mike B
my rs4 stays at about 100 and thats a new car. The supra is the same but peaked 137 at marhan Ow!!! When I see 110 a yellow light pups up and my turbo melted yet the oil never saw above 115.. Normally it sits at 85-90 peaks at 95 on the road. I use a small mocal which is poorly ventilated. Michel uses a dirty big one in the drivers side nosecone and he never saw above 85 at Marham... when he had a gearstick I'll be doing a michel install soon. edit; my water never goes above 95 degrees even when my oil is 110. JamieP
Whats the optimam temperature an oil should be running at?
Mike B
I aksked the guys at opie and they said nothing over 110, nothing under 70., although under 100 is the key.. it starts to unwind the molecules over 100 degrees more rapidly apparently... SUPRASUZUKI
Whats the optimam temperature an oil should be running at? Above 80C to help get rid of any condensation build up. A good synthetic oil will deal with temps up to 150C, although a more normal operating band is between 90C - 120C.
