firepool
Hi all To inspect a possible brake sticking on, I've removed my n/s front caliper and it looks like only 2 of the 4 pots are actually moving (the two nearest to where the fluid hose connects. Are the other 2 supposed to move as well? Also, as I was pumping the brake pedal, 1 of the pistons came out too far and a bit of fluid came out. The piston went back in ok but will this cause me any problems? Thanks
dannypunto
if u clamp the 2 pistons that move freely in position , then get a pump, and connect it on the brake hose and pump the other 2 pistons out, pump really hard and they should pop out completly, give them a clean and grease them and pop them bk in

Thanks They should all move, so i suspect 2 are sticking slightly, what i would do is buy an overhall kit and replace the seals and clean up the pistons. By the way the overhall kit is fairly cheap direct from Toyota. Edit... You also get the correct grease when you buy the overhall kit. This would be the best way to go about it if you want it to remain trouble free. Edited May 31, 2008 by merckx (see edit history)

firepool
Just done a search and found the part no. Front - 04479-14140. I'll still have the problem of extending the 2 sticky pistons though won't I?
turnerjr
just finished reconditioning my uk brakes today, it is really easy. Parts cost £35 from toyota which will do both the fronts. If you can get a piston removal tool its even easier. look at this link http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showpost.php?p=785858&postcount=10 Edited May 31, 2008 by turnerjr (see edit history)
