mikeyb10supra
dont believe the hype....either wil be fine as Paul said, just stick to whatever was in there first, unless you want to flush all 11 litres of stuff out for a full change. dont do this a lot though as you can do more damage than good by building up oil additives in the box with all the accumulated oil which can cause a sort of sludge in there....not good

Rayman
for what reason though?? becuase people say you should or becuase you know something we dont No reason i actually dont know just going by what ive read here, it shud be perfectly fine but i personally wont chance these things. Its probably not even a chance and im overreacting. Am i right in thinking toyota dont release the spec of their type 4 so we dont know whether the motul is up to spec. With something as important as the gearbox id stick to the recommended stuff. I think for the saving its not worth it, and i know type 4 is massively overpriced but thats just the way it is. Its up to you knowing toyota the box would probably run with veg oil anyway. Maybe just use the motul stuff but if you feel any difference in the gearbox get it changed back to the type 4 asap. pezzler
I dont feel that type 4 is massively overpriced, i dont even believe it to be overpriced at all. at 6.25 per litre, and considering it has the car manufacturers badge on the bottle, i think its cheap as chips. i dont cut any corners when it comes to my car. its not as if i scrimping my way through servicing my car either; the motul dextron retails in at a fraction more than the price of toyota type 4. despite the fact that toyotas type 4 is the stock lubricant for the 'box, i feel that maybe motul being a lubrication specialist might produce a better product. just wanted to doubley check dextronIII was okay; or if IID would be better.........................15hr shift at work is making me rant, rant about gearbox oil. IM LOSING IT how many times did i use words that begin with lube:eyebrows:
