hogmaw
They want me to Dj out there later this year, but I am wondering if it will be worth the 30+ hours travelling time to get there, plus the 30+ hours to get back plus all the jet lag and time off work etc. I have been to Oz before so I don't need to go there just to 'tick off' another country that I've visited, so I was thinking it would be OK if Perth was a decent place to visit, or is it really just somewhere that's remote and boring? flukey-lukey
Perth is a lovely city and theres plenty to do! It was a 19hr flight for me, not 30? I'd highly recommend you visit it and the surrounding areas.
ivan
Just got back a couple of weeks ago. Didn't think that much of the place TBH. Seems to be mostly ex-pats and very suburban. Clean but boring. And driving out there almost drove me mad. 3 lanes of motorway all going at exactly 80kph. It's almost like they're brainwashed.

That puts a different perspective on things. I can live with a 19 hour flight - just
pezzler
spent a year in perth doing nothing but drinking, thrashing a beast of a camper van around and getting sunburnt. nice people, cheap cars, good weather.
pezzler
my flight was 21 hours with a drop off in dubai. 30+ hours would be an immense flight!

On the way there we stopped off in singapore for 2 hours then straight to Perth and on the way back Perth>Bangkok>Manchester Nice airline too, they brought us hot damp towels every hour or so
ivan
SIA are one airline I would definitely fly with again - even long distance. Excellent service and nice eye candy too.
