Insurance Advice

I was wondering whether some of you may be able to offr a little advice on this:

I recently quit my current job and have a a new job a bit closer to home with a higher salary.

The only downside to this is I lost my company car :(

Anyway, the only way to get to my new place of work is by car and taking the Supra everyday would cost A LOT of money, so my brother very kindly gave me his old TLC needing Corsa (some of you may have seen 'doing up' pics).

The problem is insuring it. I have had my licence 3 years, have 2 years no claims on high performance cars and currently being used on my Supra

The car is worth about £200 but yet all the insurace quotes are coming out at about £500 due to me not being able to use my no claims bonus again. They also provide no option for 'commuting only'.

Adrian Flux wanted £500 off me even though it meant I would not be driving the Supra to work every day, surely they should be paying me!

Advice please :sly:

not 100% sure but i think direct line do a multi car policy that is meant to be pretty good? My mate uses it - but my mate does have 10yrs no claims and is 30 and doesn't drive a supra so no idea why i am telling you this?:)

Conclusion: Ask direct line / multi car policy

the end.

Thanks, I think Admiral also do a multi car policy. The only problem with this is I would have to cancel my Adrian Flux policy and lose the years no claims (it ends in 2-3 months)

can you hold off till the policy ends? and use the extra money you are earning for 3 months and use the supra? or add the corsa onto your existing policy for 3 months???

Well they didn't offer me to add the Corsa to my existing policy for 3 months, only to open a new policy.

Not sure how much it would cost but no motorway driving involved, 30 miles each day of country roads :(

Sky - I have returned your PM :)

I'm assuming that if the Corsa is only worth £200 you are asking for TPFT cover or even TP cover only on it rather than fully comp? You may be surprised the difference this can make and there's really no point having fully comp with a £250 excess (for example) on a £200 car....... :)

My advice would be to stick with the insurance you want and need on the Supra and get the cheapest (Tesco value for example) insurance you can find, TP only on the Corsa just to ensure you're legal and won't get nailed should you hit someone else.

Thats a good point, its actually cheaper to have fully comp with £200 excess than TPF&T or TP. Without the excess it works out about £30 more than TPFT

My insurance is nearly out, has anyone got any favorites in mind for moddified supras because my old insurance company has been bought out by a large firm and cannot match my old estimate even with an extra years no claims
