top gear breaklight query

was watching top gear the other day; its was the one where clarkson tests the new jag xk across the yorkshire dales. he mentions the laws/regulations regarding the height of the brake light on the spoiler. how it has to be a certain height pending on the position of the rear window. the thing is; am planning to make the sup look as "stealth" as poss before the end of the year,; ie, flush antenna housing etc etc. one of the jobs i wanted to do was to remove and fill where the brake light is on the top of the boot. where do i stand with this??!?!? if i remove it will the car be un-worthy of our fine british roads? or does this rule only apply when vehicles have a rear spoiler (my car currently despoilered). or have i just misunderstood the clarkson and got it all wrong? anyone with knowlege of whats law or myth please comment, would hate to have my car crushed or whatever ridculous punishment the government is dishing for such huge disturbance of british roads.

Yes that's mine, it doesn't look quite that nice at the moment though, it's more of a matt black with cobwebs :(

Thought so. I had an interesting tour through your detailing project a few months ago. "The proper way to do it" would be a fair title. :)

What happened Michael? I remember the thread and pics on detailingworld, did the marks start to show up again? I ask for good reason as I was going to get a small detail done on my daily car (covered in swirls, but not quite as bad as yours was).

Oh no, it's all fine and dandy underneath the grot, it's just been sat on the drive for a while and needs a good clean :)
