RobSheffield
I know that having a petrol car costs a fortune in tax, but what is it like on a hybrid like the Honda range?

Mike M
Toyota Prius is £30 per year. Edit...I think Yeah 30 quid but you cant leave it sitting for more than two weeks or it knackers the batteries leaving you with a humungus bill. So I read somewhere. AndyT
It's only £60 on cars like Fiesta's too. My mate's Zetec Sport (cough) diesel bl**dy shifts. Actually I think it's less than £60.

simbasupra
I work for Toyota and havn't experienced this yet:blink:. What i do know is that there is only one machine in the UK that can charge the hybrid battery.
Mike M
Page 8 of the Prius owner's manual......... If you do not use the vehicle for a long time (2 weeks or more), the hybrid vehicle battery and auxiliary battery will discharge and their condition is liable to decline. Therefore, in order to make up for discharging, charge them once in every two weeks for about 30 minutes by starting the hybrid system with all electrical components turned off." Ok I may have exaggerated a little.

robin
For company car tax costs have a look at the parkers website. Polo Bluemotion - http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/company-cars/?deriv=37909 Yaris - http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/company-cars/?deriv=22729 I think the list price is the main metric when it comes to how much you are taxed. Sometimes its worth getting a base/entry model with a lower list price and then getting optional extras, which as long as they arent on the list price wont cost any more. Guest dangerousandy
The Aygo is only £18 a year to tax!! The new Focus 1.6 Diesel is £35 a year.
Havard
Im thinking you guys are talking road fund license, im talking emmisions based tax from your wages for having a fueled company car. I had the Prius on my company car list and I would have paid 13% tax of the cost of the vehicle. This was the same as an Audi A3 1.9Tdi and a Focus 1.6 Tdci...... H. robin
Im interested if you can strap a turbo on I am sure it is possible to chip it like most modern diesels if you really want to, although its never going to be a fast car, but then it was never designed to be. robin
I dont think it's fair that you are taxed as a benefit in kind in some situations as you might not be able to do your job without a company provided car. I pay alot of tax because of private health care and other benefits
