suspension knocking

ive had a knocking on my rear nearside for a little while now but seems to be getting worse and with the summer seaon on the way i think its time i did sumthing about it, ive been told its the suspension arm and that i will need the whole arm as you cant just replace the bush, is this correct?

a local garage and they said the bush is in the arm and cant be dun seperatly so the whole arm would need to be changed

 

Got the same problem, N/S rear!

It's not life threatening, but my mechanic said the same (see quote).

Knocking is worse over pot holes and on concrete motorways.

 

I'm changing both sides. There's a lot of play in the wheel and you can see the arm moving off the bush. When I get a price I'll let you know the damage!

Im gonna start using the poly type bushes soon , will also be able to do exchange arms with them fitted .

I've never been convinced with putting a solid bush with no give in place of a bush with a degree of flex, given Toyota used that design for a reason - surely you're just going to transfer stress onto other components?
