halllon
Dear all, I am getting fault code 89 on a 2000 VVTi Supra. What does this fault code indicate? The car is running in "limp home" mode. As the highest fault code number for a non-VVTi car is 78, I am guessing fault code 89 is VVTi specific. Anyone?
halllon
According to this thread: http://clubaristo.net/forums/archive/index.php?t-12039.html it might be indicating a TRC fault. The traction control switch is not plugged in, but the car has worked fine without it previously. However, can the missing traction control switch cause the car to run in "limp home" mode? Scott
Don't know enough about the TC to give a definitive answer but maybe it hasn't been an issue because it hasn't used it previously. Perhaps the TC was needed and the switch wasn't in place causing an error? If thats the case plugging it back in should sort it.
Ewen
Out of interest, how did you obtain your fault code ? VVTi's are OBDII aren't they ? Does the paper clip trick work on these ?
Woodgnome
I had a similar problem the day after I brought mine - reversed up a gravel drive - snow control light came on - and car would only drive around in " limp home mode " - a phone call to the garage I bought it from suggested the snow control switch plug disconnected - sure enough reconnected switch - and all ok. The paper clip dosn't work on '98 - vvti Hope this helps:)
