Chris Wilson
I see lots of reading glasses with prescription lenses on Ebay UK, but no long distance lensed ones, is there a reason for this? I want some long distance glasses that won't make me wince if I break them. Prices from opticians are scandalous, IMHO Thanks, and no offence to opticians... Depends what your prescription is Chris, if you're short sighted then there's nothing available - something to do with the terms of what they class as prescription lenses. Over the counter reading specs aren't advertised as complete prescriptions, more aids. Distance one's are determined to be "the" prescription. I'd thought about trying to bring out something for over the shelf distance onces, was an Act that stops it IIRC. Edit: Also, the prices are completely inflated as they subsidize the cost of the eye test
Chris Wilson
Right, thanks for that, another closed shop then
Dave F
Let me know your prescription Chris and I'll give you a very nice price. I also have a few frames in stock that, if you are not too bothered about designer names, are pretty good value. I can also sort you out designer ones if need be:) Dave
ivan
I found that reading glasses are fine for general use with my scrip. Bought a cheap pair of +1.50 sunglasses at an airport for daily use when I forgot mine one holiday and have been using them ever since. Chris Wilson
Is the info on my contact lens box adequate Dave? Thanks. Not worried about fashion, prefer big lenses, rather than looking through a letter box shaped len I only wear them when I am doing something very mucky (ooo err, not that often these days...) or if I have to get up suddenly in the night (quite often these days...). Thorin
Angela got some from http://www.glassesdirect.co.uk She wears contacts the vast majority of the time. There's more measurements than just the -3.5 or whatever is likely to be on the contact lens box I believe. While she's said they're not as good as with her contacts, they're good enough and suspect would be fine for what you want them for too. Trouble is that when you go to the opticians they don't give you all the measurements for your prescription, so that you're then forced to get them to make them up for you.
