In Court Today

last January two drunken old women crashed into the front of me on the way home from work at 3 in the morning, I was driving the CLK at the time. They never stopped either, just continued driving along as normal. Thankfully the damage wasn't that bad so I followed them. Turned out they only stayed half a mile from were they had hit me.

Here is where it gets mad, The passenger is claiming she was the person driving, turns out she was more pi$$ed than the driver, and she was done for perverting the course of justice, the driver for drink driving. Both were so smashed they had to give blood samples as they couldn't do the breath test.

Here is the best bit, their excuse for being out driving whilst hammered? "They were on a driving lesson". The police that attended actually came to my home for a statement and was nealy rolling about on the floor when he was telling me.

So hopefully today I'll be able to do some laughing and fingers crossed maybe get back my NCB, cause my insurance is skinning me :)

Thanks everyone, just got back in. The passenger never turned up this morning so it has been put back for 6th time. Now it's the 28th August, I will be in Turkey so hopefully it can be brought forward. I'll be damned if I'm canceling another holiday (I should be in Rhodes just now).

Feel like pulling my hair out and I'm worried at the same time incase it ends up getting thrown out of court although the police officer in charge assures me that they won't.

On a brighter note I have another court date for June because I am sueing her for loss of earnings and repair cost so fingers and toes crossed for that one, I have a feeling she won't bother turning up for that either though

Yup, especially if its not the first time its happened. A warrant for her arrest should be issued.

Best of luck :D

I'm going to give them a call tomorrow to find out exactly why it was called off, the copper said that it was something to do with a forensic scientist and the porter said that a witness had failed to turn up.

What they need a forensic scientist for is beyond me :search: even Taggart would have had this sorted by now :)

  • 1 year later...

Well finally Strathclydes finest have caught the two old bints. They have had a warrant out for their arrest since last August.

What's even more remarkable is the fact they stay half a mile from the Police Station :rlol:

I recieved a citaton today, court is on Monday.

These sort of cases should be over very quickly when in court but its shocking how many cases are are cancelled due to no shows etc on a daily basis!

IMO, as mentioned, if you fail to turn up for court it, I assumed it was an immediate arrest warrant......? Also I'd be spiteful now and push for even more due to the endless times the cases are being postponed causing your grief etc

When I was in court for speeding, I was bricking sat waiting yet there were lots of the council estate massive types just sat that around knwoing they'd be walking free in no time and telling the admin lady that some people were not going to turn up for their cases as they couldn't be bothered!

Still going on? Cor' Blimey. Well I'm hoping you get it sorted mate. Any sign of re-imbursement etc.

Nah nothing yet, the case need to be decided before any of that stuff can be sorted out.

I got a phonecall last month from Drive Assist, the company who provided the courtesy car. They said they were gonna chase me for the payment :)

It just seams to get better as it goes on. Really looking forward to Monday now. I may turn up in fancy dress.

The old gits have used every excuse in the book. If the shoe was on the other foot I would probably have done the same.

I find it hard to believe though just how silly/flexible the justice system is.

The first time the case was put back, she claimed to 'Not have enough time to prepare for the trial' Only 4 months notice.

The 2nd time, was due to ill health, and the 3rd well I can't actually remember that reason.

Daft cases like this must really tally up.

Whet a load of balls this is turning out to be.

The horrible old Cnut wrote in a letter stating she was sick, and of course unable to attend court.

I'm lost for words on just how incredibly sh!t our justice system is. I think this is around the 7th time (I genuinely have lost count) that she had not bothered her backside.

The accident was 3 years ago almost, so if she had just accepted what's coming to her, she would have had her license back ages ago.

I really hope she gets bitten by a gigantic aids monkey. Then at least I'd be slightly satisfied.

This kind of thing makes me angry. It makes the court system appear like a farce. No wonder petty (and not so petty) criminals don't appear to be afraid of the justice system any more. The wheels of justice seem to grind sooooo slowly. A court hearing, especially if you're a defendant, should not be treated like something you can not show up to like a day out to Thorpe bloody Park.

It's possible that the old drunkards are genuinely seriously ill, in which case the courts should receive a letter from her GP about it, not just a "no-show" on the day.

Shocking really...

Curious though, do they both still have their driving license? AFAIK unless you appear in court to be sentenced/banned you can retain your driving license and drive. Not 100% sure though.

Yeah, the Pug 106 still sits outside her house, with a babyseat in it.

3 years ?? Are you serious, what the hell is going on, surely the court would now be realising its just being bumped along....

That's exactly the reason I'm so pi55ed off tbh. I can see it, the police can see it and yet, it's just allowed to trundle on

She will be dead before this gets settled......

Hopefully.

Were they not arrested?

That was my understanding. There has been a warrant out for her arrest for over a year now. I really don't know wtf is going on tbh.

You ask the Police what's going on, they laugh, shrug their shoulders and tell you to phone the Procurator Fiscal, who then in turn, basically tell you to stop being a nosey b@stard and deal with it.

If you really want to push the boat out, you could try filming her or get a private detective to do it.

When you arrive at court next time you could show some evidence.

From dealing with the courts? Its a waste of time...It benefits for the offenders not the victims.
