Vicky
[OOPS][/OOPS]Ive been looking into mobile internet for my laptop but i have no clue what to go for. Looking at the top ten contracts you can get you obviously pay more for the more downloads, but ive no idea what i will need. I generally dont download an awful lot, just my email account, ebay and this site ect so what contract do i go for? 1GB, 3GB, 5GB, or 10GB? Any help appreciated

You definitely don't need 5/10 GB then. If you hardly download videos like from YouTube then 1GB (tenner a month) should suit your needs. You could get a program to block web-popups to help control download usage. But beware the fail pics/Jap shows pics threads on here
Scott
How much is 5GB? Is there a huge difference? I like to know that i can browse what i want when i want. If it were me, i would be going for 5gb minimum if it was my only internet connection. If it was only to use some of the time then i would probably go with the 3gb. Darren-K
funny enough Vicky ive been looking at this too,. as far as i know the big 4 mobile phone companies do it,Vodaphone,. 3 and Orange and 02,. from what ive read,. 3 offer the fastest interent transfer, but lets be honest, there all a USB stick that slams into your laptop Im still not sure who to go with tho. most offer 3gb a month, which for normal browsing and downloading mp3`s its ample,. in fact its loads,. unless you download movies then its nothing. Scott
USB can go MUCH faster than any internet available to the public The speed of the device used to make the connection won't be the limitation, it will be the signal and the providers limits. chilli
if you want to do it for cheap / not heavy use - you can get O2 GPRS with a web pack for just £7.50 a month payg - that's what I use, use my mobile as a modem and it works just fine. That £7.50 also gets me free texts and a working phone so it's a bargain way to do it - no contract either. Naturally you can pay much more and get more, depends what you're after really - just a thought

If i use it i get charged a maximum of £1 per day. I can pay a certain amount to get unlimited also but i don't even use £5 a month. I use a data card for it though so no need for a modem. AlexM
I'd go for the 3GB/month contract on 3. Best price, high speed and very easy to setup/use. I don't have one myself, but I borrowed a mates one when we were away and it was brilliant. Plugged in, it installed itself (Windows only), clicked 'connect' and off I went - we were in a 3g area and it was very nippy, even possible to play games on it!
