Duffman
The calipers are gettin a blast of paint and some decals fitted...should these then be lacquered and if so wht kind?
marcAB10
they don't have to be lacquered, many (including myself) have painted there calipers and put on decals without lacquering them. i read on the details that came with the decals that it is not a must. it does make them extra shiney if you do lacquer them tho (just noticed that this is my 1000th post )

Scott
If your going to do it properly and take the calipers off of the car then definitely lacquer them. Its worth it. If your just doing it on the car i wouldn't bother.

Scott
Mine haven't and they're as good new after a couple of years without lacquer. Depends on what you use to paint them. I painted my vectra using hammerite. Lasts for ages.
JamesC
Yeah i used smooth hammerite on mine and then lacqured, thought it might have kept the decal looking good.

keener
I did a qick search and found this site http://www.ukpaints.co.uk/autok_special.php for high temp paints and clear lacquer. I've never used them so can't vouch for service, quality etc but the range of products isn't bad.
DaveR
Halfords own-brand of caliper paints work well. You're limited on colours (red, blue, yellow and silver, I think), but you could get mixing to be creative and they give you loads for your money (way more than necessary to do one car). As for lacquer, I haven't done mine and they look good. The jury's out on longevity, though, as I only did it last weekend before Japfest...! Scott
Only jesting. Note to everone planning on doing their calipers. Don't waste your money on halfrauds paints. Hammerite is far better and far cheaper. The Halfrauds kit costs £20, yes it does the job but its not as thick as hammerite and hammerite is around £8.
