edge
Ive driven a new shape 530d but not a sport. Went really well, nice comfy car etc, Quicker than the E39 530 petrol... I still prefer the E39 interiors though.
merckx
My brother had an E39 530d M Sport. It had the manual gearbox and he got it remapped but he found it very boring, fast at overtaking though with all that torque.
Epic
Yeah the BMW aint really for power (been a deisel) 0-60 is still 6.9 tho and thats pritty good for the size of the bugger! Its more the size, mpg and looks of the thing. I think they have status and stand out more than most usual cars (Perhaps not a Supra mind you) But i think for the money this would be a good safe practical bet for the future Also considerd the 300c but mpg on that aint practical at all! merckx
I don't think you'll be disappointed. My brother said it was boring but I liked the car a lot, I drove it quite a few times.
Nathman
I have an E39 530d M Sport touring. I love it, it looks great, goes very well and gives me 42 miles to the gallon. I am doing around 4,000 miles a month in it and find it very comfortable The only negative that I have found with mine so far is that it is quite low, so I am constantly scraping the front bumper on speed bumps:(
