THINK he finds old gun in ashes (his dad's old gun ??). FOLLOWS baddies (on old horse/mule ?). MEETS nice laid-back older TRAVELLING GUNSMITH. [famous bloke / slightly larger / fair hair] The bloke teaches him to shoot etc. Young 'kid' finally ends up confronting baddies (derrrr). ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? He was an Officer in WW2 sent up to a Scottish POW camp to guard some German POWs (think they escaped in the end in a submarine ?) Something like Murphy's War or something ?!?!?
