Pete
As some of you know I've decided to invest in some property abroad, more precisely Lindos at Rhodes, Greece. Tomorrow night I fly there and should (hopefully) have a car waiting at the airport ready. First worry, how do I get there? I hope they give me a map! Luckily the island isn't very large so I'll find my way sooner or later. Then upon successfully circumnavigating the electric gates (keeps the goats out!) we should arrive at our new home. I've no idea if the electricity works or anything. The solicitor emailed me during the week saying the electric company want 250euros or something or other - more expense! We then have a week to get the place looking something like a home and desirable for people to rent. Thankfully it's mostly furnished with the basics, chairs, tables, beds etc so no major shopping to be done. I'm taking one of my PS2s and managed to cobble together a media PC at work today for £52 inc VAT which will be my hand luggage. If I can get broadband sorted that'll be cool, but I need a phone line first. We've got loads of other nonsense like bedding, kitchen implements, smoke alarms etc in the case. Hopefully the pool will be filled when I get there and I'm told a nice big brick BBQ will be in place after I point at the spot where I want it. I'll find some nice sunbeds and some flora and fauna then the poolside should be complete. I've been looking at a couple of guys we got in contact - two interior designers Pete & Paul (yes, they are partners). Their villa looks amazing, but they did spend 6 weeks doing it. Oh well...Rome wasn't built in a day. The digital SLR is coming with us so when I return I can work in earnest on the website and make it look attractive for people to start renting, along with some tasty discounts for you guys. Wish me luck!

Ian W
All the best with the venture mate. My folks have a villa in Turkey that they purchased about four years ago now. Pretty much plain sailing with a few hiccups along the way. They now go on holiday there three or four times a year. Fingers crossed you have the same luck

CJ
Give me a shout on Skype later Pete and I can advise on telephone lines etc. I will be around at about 15.00 your time. Unfortunately, it isn't a case of just going to OTE and ordering the line. And even if it was, they take 15 to 20 days to do anything! SupraStar 3000
Dont worry Pete. Things will sort themselves out when the wheels of production start turning. I helped my dad build a home in Spain which just started off as just a plot of land in the middle if what looked like 'cowboy, wild west country'. Its now very homily and I cant believe its the same house. Good luck

I've spent 30 mins on the phone to P&P (Phil and Pete) and Phil has given me loads of phone numbers for electricians, carpenters etc. Also it seems their neighbours are looking into getting into maintenance so I've spoken to them to meet up. It's starting to click together.
