Guest feggle
3 weeks off testing the car myself 1 visit from toyota with diagnostic computer-didnt work and still cant get it to run. I have a 93 twin turbo manual. Ok...the engine turns over as per normal but will not fire..no fuel no spark. When I turn the key to ignition all the warning lights come on correctly except the "slip cont on and off" turns off after 1 second and the "slip cont off" starts flashing. I have read in the forums about the orange flashing light syndrome but never heard of it stopping the car from starting....any clues would be well appreciated. Cant rely on the codes from diagnostic port cause it doesnt work according to toyota man.
patrik
you should do the paperclip thing yourself. its soo easy even i do it to check errorcodes. put a paper clip in the diagnostic port after you have read this Faq http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=35920 (have you checked the fuses in the engine bay?) Chris Wilson
Has it got an alarm? If so could it be alarm related?
Guest feggle
yes it is connected to the central locking...could it be immoblysing the engine some how???
Chris Wilson
Well that's what most alarms do
creative
all relays solenoids and fuses all good, will try the paperclip method but toyota said the diagnostic port was not giving any information at all no power no signal ...nothing??? the diagnostic port under the steering wheel doesn't provide power to the diag equipment. The one under the bonnet does. Mine did this when I put it on to Toyota's diag equipment. First time we did it, it wouldn't show as being connected. We then connected to the one under the bonnet and it told us to use the one under the steering wheel. re-plugged back into that one and hey presto it started reading for codes. It does sound like an alarm problem tho. for there to be no spark or fuel means its being cut off from somewhere, usually the immobiliser. carl0s
Have you ever had the car working or did you pick it up like this?
Guest feggle
No i have had the car for 12 months no problems until about 4 weeks ago and no start from then on. The toyota guy was moving from under the bonnet to under the dash about 4 or 5 times with no luck....will have a look at the immobiliser....keep you posted thanks for the help guys
Guest feggle
Tried the paperclip and didnt get any results, the only lights flashing on the dash is the slip cont off light still. the immobiliser apperas to be working fine also tested power to the fuel pump which is ok, put 12v onto fuel pump and it turned ok, thinking it may be the ecm? Guest feggle
ok latest check has found no power getting to ecu, I had the car started and running for about 10 secs but then a relay started clicking madly and the car died again. I am lost guys i reckon i have checked just about everything. Does anyone have any wiring diagrams so i can trace the ecu to fuse box under bonnet??? Guest feggle
turned out to be the ECU. It had completly speared in and needed fixing then she ran like a dream again
