Its never been easy, what with all the bl00dy timewasters and the idiots ebay seems to attract and encourage, but now it has just got worse! If you sell an item to someone and they mess you about or just don't pay up, you can not leave them a negative feedback!! Great, nice one ebay!! Swampy442 Posted May 16, 2008 Share Posted May 16, 2008 Ive only ever had 2 problems with eBay, 1 when my account got hacked and the second whenever you try to sell a mobile on there. Came home one day and saw it had finished at 2500 quid, new member, no feedback. Also if you leave someone neutral feedback you get a warning about it!! Why cant you leave a neg then? I started using it but the number of stories about people being messed about or ripped off was just a bit too much for me. Got rid of my paypal account etc! The Ebay system is wholly based on trust. I think it is a bit stupid if you are the seller, which I do a lot of, but nothing I can do about it. TBH though, I've (touch wood) NEVER had a problem on ebay. I have completed over 400 transactions across about 7 years, and never had to chase/claim money back. You just have to do your research - before bidding or buying check out the seller, check their previous feedback and star-rating, and when selling, ensure you choose the options to block ebayers with negative feedback in last month etc. You also save yourself grief if you actually spend time and write a GOOD advert, with all required info in, such as payment methods, delivery methods, condition, and put up proper photos. A guy from Portugal with no feedback wins them, then has a paddy after we open a dispute and leaves bad feedback to us. So we relist the phones, eBay takes them off. We relist them, eBay takes off. I suspect there is a huge discrepancy between the limits of what individuals are prepared to accept to warrant leaving negative feed back. Just talk to the customer services department of any on line sales company, some customers have totally absurd expectations. When I used to work in the service department of an organisation that dealt with electrical faults in home entertainment equipment from one of the most famous stores in London, I was victim to all kinds of abuse. Extremes included being locked in a property with the threat of not being released unless I repaired the item to being lock out because I had not arrived in the time window given. I think the sellers not being allowed to give negative feedback to buyers might be a good thing for two reasons: 1. It means people can finally leave neg feedback for bad sellers without fear of the usual retaliatory negative in return. 2. As a seller you generally can't check out a buyer's feedback before allowing them to bid.. it's not like analysing whether or not you will bid on a seller's item.. the buyer will just bid/buy before you know anything about them. I accept that it may be harder now to decide whether to wait longer for a cheque to clear or something, but all the same, it seems like a reasonable change to the feedback system. Just like "oxfam" and "Help the aged" Its going to attracted some weirdos looking for dirty used knickers. I buy stuff from Hong Kong and Chinese with the mentality if the item is lost in the post or not as described its a risk I'm willing to take and no major loss. Guest mattsupra Posted May 16, 2008 Share Posted May 16, 2008 i recently put my lupo on there for sale and i got so many time waisters i took my email addy and phone number off the add and this is the first time i have ever had to do this and ive been on there yrs its such a joke now a days i won an estate and the guy wouldnt sell me it even though it was no reserve and i won the car im getting sick of it too i even had some tw*t tell me how lucky i am to be able to drive a car never mind sell one due to him being so called disabled and he even added me to msn messanger to give me grief and there he was stood up outside his house with a beer in his hand on his pic i couldnt beleive it so i told him where to get off and blocked him ebay sucks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

When I complained to the seller and threatened negative feedback their attitude was 'well if you leave me negative I will do the same to you' The previous system meant the seller had leverage over the buyer which was unfair. As much as Ebay annoys me (have you seen their selling and listing fees? - borderline theft!!) - they had to do this to protect those who were too scared to give negative feedback for dodgy goods. At the end of the day if a car isn't going for what your expect it to be worth no amount of pixels on a computer screen are going to make you do it. Annoying though. SupraGirlie Posted May 16, 2008 Share Posted May 16, 2008 I find this new feedback rule very annoying, I run a shop on ebay, I have over 2000 feedback since I opened last year and in that time I have had many 'cheaters' - people who claim to have never recieved an item to get another sent for free, I can't leave negatives now to warn people about these kinds of people which is very annoying, I also think the number of cheaters will increase as they don't have to worry about recieving a negative! bmx1lew Posted May 16, 2008 Share Posted May 16, 2008 I hate ebay, they overcharged me on a bill so i paid double, I wrote a email to them and they said yes we can see we have over charged you, you can either have the money back but will take 60days, have it credited to your account so next time i sell something i dont have any charges.. which i chose, started selling, next bill came in but they did not deduct the over charge £54.31p now my bill is £80 i have been chasing ebay since october for the money. every time i email them i get a generic responce on how to pay my bill, I have phoned them and then get passed onto a VM service that tells me to email them! They have the worst customer service ever, now i have lost my ebay account but to hell with them there not getting my money! I'm not saying it's right. I'm just saying if someone decides not to sell something that's worth thousands of pounds then that's up to them. Many ebay users are total numpties and don't know how it works with regards to setting up reserves etc or are greedy and don't want to pay the extra eBay charges for this "service". Ebay is a dodgy place, but common sense helps!! Ebays new rules dont...... They can now dictate how much you can charge for postage, what postage methods you can use and on some listings you can only accept Paypal!!! the fkn cheek of the cnuts!!!
