Smoke!

Following on from my "Oh bother" thread, i thought i would add some more info and also ask for peoples opinions and experiences.

As i said in the original thread, i returned from a spirited run to find that there was a small amount of smoke on idle, next day a started from cold, and got no smoke at all until the engine was up to normal temp, blipping the throttle gave a little more smoke,

(we are still not talking lots of smoke here but its enough for me):(

Anyway i took it for a drive with a mate following and found that it smoked on the over run, and just going back on the throttle after coast/engine braking, but not on boost or normal cruse.

Now the first thing i did was to check for oil in the throttle body as oil mist Will tend to accumulate due to less turbulence, and found none, so next i checked plugs, no signs of oil burning, so then i did a compression test and found that all cylinders where very good 200psi with a max of 8psi difference between cylinders.

Today i made up a heath Robinson leak down tester (courtesy of John A) and the results where also very good with no detectable difference between cylinders, with a reading of 16% which i mainly put down to having 10mt of hose between the two gauges:innocent: didn't have the right connectors!

So my conclusion is the turbo exhaust side seals, but i would just like to see if you would agree or offer some other possibility or experience?

Hi mate - following on from my thread - if you sit in the car and slip it into reverse, holding it on the brake (ie. not moving) do you get the same result after about 5 seconds (ie. smoke - white)?

Just sounds so similar to my problem thats all!!

And are you losing coolant / oil?
