can someone please help

had idle problems about 2 months ago thought it was the fuel then my mechanic found the throttle body was dirty he cleaned it out the the idle was perfect apart from the idle when cold it was still only around 800

now its ticking over very low 400 maybe i turned up the throttle in the engine to keep it ticking over at 850ish then after a run it sometimes ticks over high because i turned it up but most of the time its around 750 800 then when i turn lights, ac etc on the revs dont go up they go down.

any ideas what this is

could the throttle body be dirty again gave it a spray out when cleaning and the revs went up to about right then after about a min it went back down

air filter is in bad condition

please can anyone help

I had this problem a few years back. I also had my throtle body cleaned but it didnt help. My revs were dropping causing the car to stall when I wanted to pull away slowly. It all came down to a dirty airfilter. As soon as I changed it my idle revs went back to normal.

hey

only cleaned the air filter about a month ago still looks clean enough

its a tt non vvti

thought it was the idle control valve

cleaned the rubber part last week didn't chage anything

but i forgot about the idle control valve stepper motor tried to get it off put cant get in at the screw so i just pulled out the cable and started it up and it started run at about 1400rpm (i had earlier turn up the rev)plug it in and out a few times then when it was out started running at 1900rpm put it back in and it went down to around 1200rpm i let it heat up then turned the throttle back down and it seems to be perfect now

i'll let you new how it goes.......

thanks for the help

also when i was messing about with the cable i took off the airfilter to see if it was that

hey

just took it for a spin

it was fine for the first while gave it a good bit of power in 1st and 2nd then a bit of light drive was ticking over at about 1050rpm

gave it a good hard run then as soon as i slowed down it was ticking over at about 500rpm tried disconnectin the idle cable again but it didnt work and now ive noticed that the right indcator flashes twice as fast as the left one.

any ideas what this problem is?

its starting to get to me.

i'll try more tomorrow

When you say you turned up the rev's, how did you go about this? I presume you've adjusted the set-screws that hold the throttle body in place. Really this is the wrong thing to do. The throttle body should close to a set position, and then the ecu adjusts the idle valve, ignition and timing to achieve an idle speed depending on the inputs from the various sensors. Adjusting the set-screws introduces an additional variable that the ecu isn't expecting. However it shouldn't be causing the problems that you seem to be having.

Anyway, so with the car warmed up, just idling, what rpm does it idle at? If you were to do the same test 3 times, would it idle at the same speed or would it be different each time?

It should, from cold, start up at about 1800, then drop fairly quickly down to about 1200, then as it warms up, drop down to 600. It should hold 600 pretty steadily once up to temperature. If you turn on AC or steer then the RPM should rise.

I take it you've checked for error codes, and aren't getting any?

The indicator is most likely a blown bulb on the right hand side. It is possible that it could be related to your problems, but I wouldn't want to say either way until a bit more investigation.... I would just replace it.

hey

today i cleaned out the idle control valve which helped raise up the revs then i cleaned out the throttle boby got loads of dirt out and it was fine then when i turned on the ac the revs went up. i thought this was it solved i took it for a spin and the revs are still fine but when i turned on the ac the revs go down.

i adjust one screw to hold the throttle i think theres about 4 it might still be a bit turned up.

when i start most of the time goes to 1800rpm then straight down to 1000rpm.

1st start 1400rpm then straight down to a little over 800rpm (when hot)

2nd start 1000rpm then straight down to a little over 800rpm (when hot)

3rd start 1200rpm then straight down to a little over 800rpm (when hot)

4th start 1200rpm then straight down to a little over 800rpm (when hot)

5th start 1200rpm then straight down to a little over 800rpm (when hot)

after a run ticks over around 1000rpm

should it be ticking over around 600rpm?

is that not a bit low

also does not tick over any higher when cold i'll double check tomorrow.

checked for error codes last time i had problems the guy found the dirt in the throttle body cleaned it out and said it was behaving perfect.

but didnt tick over higher the next day when cold

had a look at the air filter today i need a new one

hey

Started it today when fully cold

1st start around 1200-1400rpm then straight down to a little over 1000rpm

2nd start around 1200-1400rpm then straight down to a little over 800rpm then slow rose to a little over 1000rpm

3rd start around 1200-1400rpm then straight down to a little over 800rpm then slow rose to a little over 1000rpm

4th start around 1200-1400rpm then straight down to a little over 600rpm then slow rose to a little over 1000rpm

5th start around 1200-1400rpm then straight down to a little over 600rpm then slow rose to a little over 1000rpm

6th start around 1200-1400rpm then straight down to a little over 600rpm then slow rose to a little over 1000rpm

my supra's gone crazy

i was away for a week and when i came back i started up my supra last week it was ticking over around 1000-1200rpm

now it was around 500rpm as it heated up the revs rose to about 900 took it for a spin and it would drop to about 400rpm when i stopped i turn up the rev a touch then parked it up for awhile then when i started it up, it started reving itself 1000 to 2000 then back to 1000 and over and over.

What the F**k

getting it pluged in as soon as i can.....

cleaned the throttle body out again disconnected all the sensors on the throttle then reconnected them, started it up 1800rmp straight down to 1000rpm rose to 1200rpm after awhile, took it for a drive revs stayed at that. when i put the foot down it started reving again 1400rpm-2000rpm and over and over

Can anyone help what the F**k is wrong with my supra

Hello

solved half the problem

the reving was caused by a leak in the pipe going to blow off valve

took of the throttle body and cleaned it out.

The next morning started it up and went to about 1200rpm and after about 30seconds fell to a little under a thousand.

later that day started it and it just conked out. once warm ticking over around 1000rpm

took it for a drive ticking over about 1200rpm after about hour fell to about 1000rpm turned it off later turned it on 1200rpm ticking over.

The next day started it and it conked out had to keep my foot on the accelator to keep it running had to keep my foot on it until it was fully warm then it was ticking over about 600rpm.

tick some of the sensors on the throttle body could be in the wrong postion

Could any one check theirs and see what position there in?, think you can adjust them by about 10degrees (eg the screws in the cenre of the hole or what)

Could a temp sensor be broken?

revs still go down when you turn on the ac.

What turns the revs up when you turn on the ac?

Thanks to anyone who can help

Hi

Could someone take a picture of the sensors on the throttle body and email to me or upload them.

i'll be able to see where the screws are on them and see if mine are near enough the same.

Thanks

ok i took off the throttle body and set up all the senors.

it wounldn't tick over when i started it.

I disconnected the idle control valve started it and it started and reved to about 1600 and kept going up (with a hushing noise as if the turbos were building up pressure but nowhere to go) conected the idle control valve restarted and it started to about 900rpm went for a drive tickin over around 1100rpm leave it sitting and revs would drop to about 950rpm when i got home same thing again let it sitting for a bit longer and the revs kept dropping fell to 600rpm

turned it off restarted it went to 600rpm

turned on ac revs went up to about 800 holds for 10seconds then drop to 600rpm.

if turned off then back on same thing holds for 10seconds.

Is this my idle control valve?

if the sensor were out of place would it take awhile for the ecu to learn of this change?
