thunderbirdsgo3
to any tech gods out there, hi, i have a na-t with an oil leek around the cylinder head , i am in the middle of taking it off would it make any difference if i put a 1.6mm gasket on or should i stick with the 1.2mm gasket regards andy
creative
it would change your compression ratio... but some one smarter than me will tell you if thats good or bad!
TurboBrett
a thicker gasket will lower the compression ration, a lower compression engine can run more boost safely at the sacrifice of off boost performance, if your engine is mapped to run the standard head gasket thickness then increasing this would need it to be remapped, (not %100 sure if you absolutely have to) if you have plans to increase the bhp of the engine via a boost increase in the future, then future proof away ;)but a lower compression off boost will make it less responsive and i experienced a huge increase in fuel consumption (not a supe tho and i went from 10.9:1 to 8.2:1:D) iirc going from 1.2mm to 1.6mm on an Na brings the compression ration up to par with a tt block (waits to be corrected) and lowering the cr you would need to advance the timing, its been awhile since setting up the mini but i think thats how it was
