Adverts that make you think

Its a sad irony that in many such incidences its the fool who causes the accident that gets away with a few scratches and the passengers/bystanders that end up worse off.

Accident locally to me where a numpty lost it on a bend (in a scooby) ploughed into a bridge support and his two passengers ended up in hospital very poorly. and him? he walked away unscathed.

Awful. hits home though :(

The chick in that first one is quite hot.

.... and single too ! ;)

:D I needed something to make me laugh after watching that advert thanks!

Hate to be all pathetic here but I wish someone warned how graphic the adverts are before clicking on them. :( - I actually had a friend who died by being crushed against a wall by a car.

Also, if this is what it takes to think, hand over your ignition keys now imo.

Totally agree with you there. The trouble is there are plenty of people who can't think fast enough.

The roads on a motorway are made for 100mph (the ones in the 70's, new ones are even faster). The reason they had to cap the limit was because some people can't think fast enough.

The way i understand it is this. In a computer you have loads of components. The Memory can be made to go the fastest, next its the CPU, HDD, CDrom, internet etc etc. Your computer can only go as fast as its slowest component. Speeding laws aren't governed by the average person, they are governed by the slowest thinking drivers. I'm not sure how they tested for this, whether they took 100 drivers and looked for the slowest to react, but thats how i understand it.

30mph in built up area's is a mix of the above and the risk of fatality. If you hit a kid at 30 they will most likely survive. To hit at 30 you either don't touch the brakes (slow reactions) or you were doing 40-45ish IMO.

They were designed for up to 100mph in the 70's. The surfacing materials nowadays are much more advanced. The 70mph limit was introduced because of the amount of accidents with people not paying attention and not being able to react in time. It was deemed that a limit had to be put in place so they did a study and came up with 70mph in all areas. Certain area's were then dropped for certain reasons.

I wached a show on it a few years back.

Its strange how if you haven't read something or haven't seen something you automatically "rubbish" it. You don't know everything Thorin, although you seem to think you do.

Wiki has never and will never be an accurate info source ;)

I guess germans can think a lot faster :p

Wiki wouldn't have been my first choice either, was the first match i came too lol.

The autobahn is designed to handle much higher speeds, i'm pretty sure you are warned about it as you go onto it as well. Sort of like "proceed at your own risk" are you not?

Different country's determin different limits from different criteria. Thats just the way the world is.

The fact that the stopping distances haven't been changed since the 70's makes me wonder though. ABS, tyre technology and road technology have came miles since then. Most cars can stop in half the claimed distances.

The motorway limit came about from one of two things, can't remember which out of these two though:

In the 70's a lot of people were still going as fast as possible in dense fog on the M1 so a tempory 70 limit was put in place and deaths plummeted so it was rolled out nationwide.

Or

In the 70's due to the oil crisis a 70 limit was imposed to save fuel and was never listed.

I can't be bothered to google the answer.

:yeahthat: Or at least that's I always thought.

Hard hitting adverts like that would be welcome on my TV if it ultimately makes some 17 year olds chavs slow down a bit
