Kn1ght
I've noticed a few threads about EGTs, but they have all seem to have been about Std or BPU. How do Hybrids alter these temps? my temps are quite a bit higher than the other's mentioned. Idling: 450 - 500c Cruising: 650 - 700c Going up a hill boosting at about 0.0bar: 850 - 900c on the flat go peddle full depressed about 1.2: 850 – 900c is this normal hybrids? Nic
Where is the sensor located, before or after the turbo?
Kn1ght
I'll have to get a pic. will do that when I get home. from memory I think it's next to the cylinder on the exhaust manifold
Tricky-Ricky
Sounds a bit on the high side to me, only seen just over 800 C on mine, and the sensor is in the turbo housing.
heckler
mine is before turbo, about 1" next to the head - I see 850 ish at 1.2 bar - BTW I have hybrids Edited May 14, 2008 by heckler (see edit history)

Kn1ght
could the grill infront of the IC have anything to do with it?

Nic
Your sensor is before the turbo, 900C is around the max you would want to see, above this and you are starting to get intro dangerous territory.
Nic
could the grill infront of the IC have anything to do with it? It would be better without and with the intercooler properly ducted, it looks from the pic that there is a large area of the FMIC that won't be getting any direct airflow. Your FMIC is probably less efficient than a properly ducted side mounted intercooler would be.
Kn1ght
I'll take the grill off.. What do people normally use to duct a FMIC?

Disagree nic, i would say 900 post turbo is getting beyond safe. So 800 before turbo. I used to max 950 on UK turbo's. I later had an issue that resulted a dead engine. I dont know if it was related to the heat though. (i believe it was the turbo failure.)

The temp after the turbo is usually around 200C less, so safe limit after turbo around 700C.

Kn1ght
What would cause high EGT's other than maybe a dodgy map on my APEXI S-AFC II?
