Pixelfill
I think my water pump is on it's last legs, so I have a couple of questions: What is involved with a water pump swap, I've read that the cam belt needs to be removed, along with the radiator. Given the answer to the above question, is there anything else I should be changing while I'm about it, thermostat, cam belt (while it's off?) aux belt tensioner, pulleys on the ancilliaries, alternator? should I just fit a stock water pump, or should I be considering a phr / meziere electric pump. Thanks in advance Mike

Paul Whiffin
You'll need water pump, cambelt, may be fanbelt and a crank seal if there's any sign of leaking, apart from that nothing else needs changing unless buggered of course.

Scooter
cheers Paul, How easy a job is it for a novice spanner monkey? or should I get an adult to help ? Mike check our "Markssupra" sig link re changing the cambelt and see if you feel scared!! Getting to/changing the cambelt is 95% of the labour need to then go on to change the pump. creative
does the cam belt really need to be removed? the waterpump is driven off the Aux belt. I was looking at mine tonight (N/A) and I'm sure you don't have to. You need to take the aux belt off. could even do it with the rad in situ... obviously easier to take it out though. or am I missing something? Pixelfill
I thought exactly the same, but having read the workshop manual it would appear that you do need to My other car (Fiesta) had a water pump failure on friday, and that is a cambelt off change too. creative
* i Must learn to read!* EDIT: I tell a lie... it does state that..... what a bu**er! it seems to be so you can get the bolts off and pull the pump out as it looks like it runs behind the cam belt..... another bright Idea from toyota... almost on par with the matrix! BMW ones can be done in 10 minutes! Edited May 14, 2008 by creative (see edit history)
