Overheating ?

Recommended Posts

My cars started overheating just now on the short trip down to Tesco, it was the highest I had ever seen the needle go. I know my coolant should be changed soon so hopefully have it done over the weekend.

When I de-accelerate the needle slowly returns to normal, it appears that it only moves when I am accelerating.

Can anyone shed some light on this or should I start saving the pennies for a nice shiney new rad?

Hello bud for the cost of a rad cap is it worth taking the risk ? i wouldn if it was me. if you have rad / overheat probs could it not be a fair assumption that you may have an air lock in the system ?? just a thought im no expert.

It's the rad cap mate, waited till it cooled down then went out, the thing is rattling about like a charity box.

The ptfe was only a temp solution till I get hold of a new cap. Trying to get hold of one just now but I'm out of ideas.

I'm gonna give TMS a call in the morning, they are usually quite good and a lot cheaper than Toyota. Failning that I'm fecked cause that's the only two places I know.
