michael
I'm going to have to ask for votes to only come from chaps on this one because the ladies spend far too much money on such things and it will mess the vote up Just curious as to how much the average haircut costs these days - I know we aren't the most fashion addicted bunch so it might not be the best representation but I'm interested anyway. Another utterly pointless thread but I'm not starting a "Supra Hair" social group just for one post.
AndrewOW
To tell you the truth, I'm not paying anything for my haircuts at the moment, as I did a load of design work for a friend's new 'health & beauty' shop in the town. All for free, but normally the wet-cuts cost around £12 a month.

michael
marc_p - do you get yours tinted and permed?
DamanC
Cut my own, set of trimmers and im away. Despite different lengths and blends its actually very easy. Not only is it free but the best bit is I can justy go and do it, none of this travelling or booking malarky
marbleapple
marc_p - do you get yours tinted and permed? That or his lady cuts his hair and then requires a donation to the 'shopping' fund.

Not only is it free but the best bit is I can justy go and do it, none of this travelling or booking malarky I agree. I use a combination of trimmers and scissors. The main reason I do it myself is that I can do it exactly how I like - I've lost count the number of times "professionals" have taken off too much or not followed instructions. Whitesupraboy2
£7.50 although last time I paid for it was over a year and a bit ago as my ExGirlfriend trained in hair dressing.
SilverSoop
I pay....Nothing! My girlfriend cuts my hair better than the bloody hairdressers!!
stevie_b
Usually £13-15, but when I get a cut and shoe shine it weighs in at a wallet-bothering £45. Let's just say that's an occasional treat!
michael
£18+ for a haircut Michael!?! What on Earth do you have done? This is one of the reasons for me posting really, just trying to get a feel for what's considered normal these days. There seems to be two options here - one is a pretty grim cut for £5.00 > £10, crappy little busy barbers, rush job, don't listen to what you want, staff have smelly hands, out you go... or a nicer place where you are given a bit more time, have a nicer chair and clearly most of your money goes on fresh flowers and nice wallpaper. I used to go to a really good gents barbers, proper old school and owned and run by women (I don't like blokes cutting my hair), where it was £8.00 for a really nice cut but it's miles away so would end up costing much more with petrol and isn't convenient. I've been through 6 different shops now trying to find one I like and the most recent one I booked an appointment in wanted £35.00 for a gents cut, I cancelled and went for another where it was £18.50 and it was a decent snip but still felt far too expensive. I like to have an appointment rather than sit around waiting so that often limits me to the "salon" experience where prices tend to be a bit more but I know they get really daft in central Leeds so I'm still saving a bit of cash. Yer but I also think you need to consider where people get their hair cut. I.e. in the centre of Leeds £18 isn't too bad. Menston/outside of Leeds £18 is a huge amount. I had my hair cut the other day by a lady who also worked in a posh salon in Leeds. She usually charges £25+ but because she was standing in for her friend at my local hairdressers it only cost me £8. There is no difference in hairdresser, or hair cut, just the location. My last cut was done by the "Style Director", it would have been £2 cheaper had the "Senior Sylist" done it and another £2 less if had been the "Stylist". Unfortunately I just wanted an appointment so just got one with whoever was available. Apparently spatula highlights cost £46.00,
