Wolf
Any techies out there? I have loads of programs on my desk top PC which I've bought over the years and now cannot find the reg keys etc for. I want to move everything on the PC to a new lap top - is there a way to completely copy one hard drive to another and keep all these programs working or will I have to download and buy them all again.. (Also things like I Tunes where I have 1000s of tumes I copied in from CDs which I really don't want to do again - though I could just upload from my Ipod I guess...) Cheers for any help
Jake
Do a copy of your existing HD onto multiple CDRs or DVDRs with Norton Ghost and reinstall it onto the new PC
JustGav
That might not work if the hardware is radically different.... but if it doesn't work I've got a program called Desktop DNA which is used for migration, not 100% sure if it will move installed programs but I guess it is worth a go Gav
Jake
Even if it can't reconfigure the HW he can reinstall Windows over the top and everything should be fine.
JustGav
yup... that would do it... or just run a sysprep on it
