something like in the picture. I would need measurements as well, and what kind a metal material would I need that wouldn't conduct as much heat.

cheers

i used to make carbon fibre ones of these a few years back for the apexi filter but with the demise of TVR my carbon fibre source dried up along with all the patterns :(, they are not hard to make from something like thin sheet ally with some form of reflective insulation (the stuff for behind domestic radiators is good), i made the master from corrugated card board cut roughly to shape then you insert cocktail sticks in all the holes in the top of the corrugated and gently shut the bonnet, the cocktail sticks slide down into the corrugations and conform perfectly to the underside of the bonnet, carefully transfer to the ally and cut and bend it, a good source for the rubber sealing profile is http://www.carbuildersolutions.co.uk, this is a pic of one of the shields with ally extension from the air intake http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=23 (the engine pic)

nice guide, never saw that, must stress my design was open top using the bonnet as the top seal for the box as i wanted to show off my apexi filter :D

Yeah, i think the lid is optional. It looks just a bit too DIY with it on. All the other ones i have seen just use the bonnet as a seal.

Nice tip about the cocktail sticks paul ;) I'll be making one of these soon so i'll give that a go! :)
