Hi,

Has anyone any experience of using or reprogramming the HKS FCON V ECU?

I am planning to upgrade to 500hp+, possibly single turbo (eventually) I currently have an FCON V installed and have no idea of what it can do. Any help would be much appreciaited...

Cheers

No one really knows what exactly has been done to it. I am its third owner in the UK. It dyno's at 460hp.

I found the FCON V buried under the carpet in the passenger footwell :) It is has also been decatted and is using a blitz air induction system.

I was planning to upgrade the fuel system, 700cc injectors, TDI fuel pump etc... and get some head work done as the first phase of modification. Is the FCON V ECU good to use in these situations?

Probably best to find out what it's got first, before modding further.

Stage 1 get the fueling tested with a wide band O2 sensor.

Stage 2 get someone who knows there stuff to help you dig around and work out what's on it...the previous owner may help....but I wouldn't pay any company to dig around....why should they have all the fun!!

Stage 3 do what you've got planned...

One thing to look at is whether your fuel system is UK spec or j-spec...and what your turbo's are...hybrids are hard to spot might involve taking the pipe off the front of the 1st turbo to get a good look inside.

The most important advice is DON'T IMPULSE BUY!!! It does lead to disaster from time to time...if you think you know what you want but don't 100% know if its the best thing to do, run it by other owners like us guys and we'll let you know our unbiased opinions of kit and or tuning paths

Cheers

Alex,

Many thanks for the advice. I'll do some serious looking around at the engine and turbos before I proceed and try and figure out what has been done.

And you're right. No way am I letting a company take it to bits. I've been looking forward to doing this far too long to let someone else do it :)

Cheers

I would contact Leon Green he has experience with F-CON's and would be able to do an assessment of your car. I agree with Alex you really should find out what is really going on with the car before going any further.

As Gavin said take it to Leon. FWIW haven't seen a well mapped F-ConV in a Supra yet. I have seen a mapped one so far out you wouldn't believ it, so some specialists aren't so special.

Leon will tell you what's been done to the car & where to stick the F-Con.:D
