jamesmark
I am going to be getting this for my Sarah's Birthday. As she needs to get her drivers licence. Has anyone done an intensive course? or knows someone that has done it? What is involved, is it good etc etc
Jake
How much experience does she have already? Proper driving is not really something you can learn quickly, is it? Isn't experience the main thing? I'm presuming she's not 17 years old, right? So why the rush now?
jamesmark
She is sick of her job and she has worked in the pharmaceutical trade before and she would like to go a reps job in the future so she wants to get her licence and get driving for 2 years so that she can go down the route of being a pharmaceutical rep. She is 28 (on Saturday). She has had loads of lessons. However she knocked someone over a few of years ago, not her fault as they guy was getting chased by police for shoplifting and he ran out in front her, so it set her back a bit. I have offered to teach her as I have personally taught 2 people to drive and they passed first time, but she thinks it will be just one big arguement. SilverSoop
I am going to be getting this for my Sarah's Birthday. As she needs to get her drivers licence. Has anyone done an intensive course? or knows someone that has done it? What is involved, is it good etc etc I done this when i was learning to drive at 17. It was crammed in 5 days at 2 hours a day. IMO, it was too much to cram in and remember. You have to remember important things like how to drive the way the examiner and instructor wants you to, how to and remember manoevers, highway code, the show me, tell me section...Theres an AWFUL LOT to remember and tbh, its more hassle than its worth. Needless to say i didnt pass my test first time... I just took my time with lesons...you put less pressure on yourself and you're more relaxed when it comes to the test day. ChrisB
Im a driving instructor and i do intensive courses, they are absolutly fine, my pass rate is the same near enough for intensive as it is for normal pupils, though i dont usually reccomend them for anyone who has not driven before. Sounds like it would suit her perfect, most instructors will/ should do an assessment lesson first to tell her how many hours she will need. MRX
Did one about 17 years ago. No previous experience, 4 days of intense learning and took the test Friday morning - Passed first time. I guess its all down to the individual, it might suit some and not others.
bigcol
Stay away from the ones in Blackpool they are BAD ,the hotels are manky that they put you in and, 99% of the time you end up sharing with someone whilst doing your lessons i.e you will pay for 40hrs tuition and only do 20 because you have to share the driving time, they also have a pretty crap pass rate, try these http://www.passfast.com/ they are based in Dundee and are all over scotland im sure of it
Charlotte
I guess it's entirely possible to get someone trained up to pass the driving test within a few days. It's whether they can actually drive afterwards that's the issue.
michael
My old instructor always used to say "I can teach you to pass a test but I'd rather teach you how to drive"... obviously he made more money as a result but it's something that's stuck with me. I think I'd rather know my loved one is well prepared for the roads that have them unleashed into the horror with limited real experience. YMMV
jamesmark
This is the kind of feedback am after, cheers guys, I agree with Michael. I have never been a fan of these crash courses. As for lots of practice, she has had quite a few normal 1-2 lessons, before her accident she was the stage of waiting for her test date.
