Jamesy
Hi guys Advice time again (sorry!)... Have been offered a deal with a nice Pug 406 Coupe 3.0 V6 - i've always had a soft spot for these cars but wondered if any of you petrol heads may have any advice? Pic below - the bloke has spent a fair amount of cash with MASSIVE wheels, Brembos etc...comes with all electrics and red leather. (quite like the idea of having a newer car also...2001 model) Only thing i'd do is lower it! Pic... http://web5.pistonheads.com/aimg/401996-2.jpg thanx

michael
The wheels look too big for the car, they detract from it's rather nice styling IMO. I drove one a few years ago, they don't set the world on fire in the performance stakes but they go well enough and seem fairly well screwed together. Very cheap to buy too it seems, I was considering one recently when looking for a new daily driver. If it's cheap enough have a dabble, just sell the wheels and get some a few inches smaller to put the class back.

jamesmark
They are nice cars. As already mentioned I would say for what they have under the bonnet they are not the quickest of cars. I think the 3.0 V6 is hagh 7 second car.

Chris Wilson
Nice ride (until you lower it and put on daft wheels), nice looking, but a big lemon of a FWD car that shows it's got a 3 litre V6 ahead of the front axle line as soon as you point it at a corner. American market styling and handling, but over here. No thanks
bmx1lew
cool put a ferarri 360 kit on it http://www.extreme-sportscars.com/
marc_p
cool put a ferarri 360 kit on it http://www.extreme-sportscars.com/ The problem arises there with the fact that when you look through the back window all you see is back seats and a boot albeit a nice boot but it still leaves people wondering WHERES THE F**KING ENGINE!!! jamesmark
One thing, if it is a 2001 car then does it fall under the new tax brackets? Is that why it is up for sale as it is costing a few hundred to tax?
Mike_Mac
Aren't the V6 Peugeot's 406's rear wheel drive?? No. I considered one of these prior to the supe, but the performance and handling (when spirited) didn't match the looks at all. Comparing the interior of the Coupe to a regular 406 isn't too bad, especially if it's leather, as the 406's interior is a nice place to be and the day to day ride comfort is really good too. TBH I'd get an NA Supe. Just as good looking, better handling, similar economy and far, far more reliable.
Scoboblio
My housemate had one, I thought it was lovely. Two properly usable seats in the back with plenty of space, and a big boot. IMO they're a great balance between good looks and practicality.
